first your home router got wat settings? any wep key? i have no problem connecting to my aztech. And i have seen some forum says certain router cant be connected, but I havent met one yet. So I would ask u double check both home router and your p1i settings

*
For those having problems connecting to your wifi, please check your wifi settings to make sure that it is set to allow BOTH .11b and .11g connections. Otherwise, you won't be able to connect as most wifi routers have been pre-configured to allow only .11g connections.

Also, if you are on WEP, please re-key in your password on your P1, sometimes, using the keypad on it, you can accidentally key in the wrong alpha-numeric keys .... some of us have big fingers and sometimes the keypad register another key stroke instead of the one we pressed.

Hope this will help some of you out there with wifi connection issues.

that setting is on your wifi router and not on the P1 but it needs to be set as P1 is only .11b capable.

If you don't have access to the wifi router (e.g. in office environment), you'll need to speak to sys admin and get them to allow it and then only your P1 can access the internet.

So it means W960i/P1i does not support most of the wifi coverage outside my house since starbucks/office/school/etc using 802.11g

Not necessarily .. depends on whether these places used default settings (usually meaning .11g only) or maybe they have changed the configuration to .11b and .11g. You'll need to test it out to know.

Check your own router setting first and change it to .11b and .11g, then try to surf. If you can surf at home and then later you go to starbucks or other public places and can't surf, you'll know that they have default configuration.

G wifi are backward compatible with B wifi, so the B/G things shouldn't be the problem.

btw, went to Ericserve yesterday and saw a one week old P1i...stylus broken into two... sweat.gif

I bought this one as i find local screen protector cant fit the entire screen

http://cgi.ebay.com/Capdase-Privacy-screen...1QQcmdZViewItem

this one works as a privacy protector

good
only u can see the screen
thicker usually means safer for the screen
fit the screen to the mm means no more exposed screen to the air

bad
makes the screen slightly darker about 10% darker
u have to press deeper for stylus since the screen is thicker
if play too much games, i notice u can use the stylus scratch the protector abit (notice it when the screen light not lit.)

overall i think its ok, but if martin field has one, i think should be better, what I learn is although martin field is CLEAREST, it also the easiest to damage if u peel it to clean or something, so dont peel off your MF if possiblem.

wow, my first review on p1i stuff, not bad whistling.gif

Added on October 18, 2007, 1:27 pmbtw, the B & G settings, not many router has that settings, therefore its not nessary to change that settings as G is backward compatible as mentioned.

If u have problem connecting, its usually u are too far from router or settings on your P1i

as i have no problems connecting my home router

if need help, maybe we can have a mini gathering at a place with WIFI, so we can hands on test the wifi on the spot

correct G is backword compatible with WLAN B, but problem is the wireless AP/Router must set Wireless mode to MIX mode (B + G),to allow Wlan B device connect to it, that is limitation on P1i, if location provide WIFI access but only set Wireless in G mode only that P1i will not able to connect to it.
