Hi Azraeil, I'm new in this forum I just got an offer from petronas (after waiting a long 5 months since SI haha). oh fyi, Im a fresh graduate. First, my background is Geology, and they offered me a position as Executive (Geoscience) at Operation Department, Technical Service division. I have read that your background is geology too, so i would like to ask about the job desc as geoscience at operation dept. could you tell me? is it being a wellsite geologist or what? actually i have dream to become an explorationist, so i wonder is that possible from operation dept. i can continue my carreer as explorationist (i mean such as geomodeller or seismic study or petrophycisit etc)? or once i got into operation, then all my carreer path would be in operation till end? appreciate for your help bro, javascript:emoticon('') thanks |

QUOTE(azraeil @ Sep 15 2012, 03:08 PM) Masjoni, I am not sure what the scope for the operations dept is. I assume you'll be in Carigali right? As for well sitting, I don't believe PETRONAS does well sitting anymore, it has been outsourced to te mud logging companies I think. thanks a lot for your explanation mate! yes, mine is Carigali. too bad, that is the job I was looking for.I see, but as you said that it has been outsourced to the mudlog company , it makes me more wondering about the job haha. if i may ask, what division is petrophycisist belongs? did you start join petronas as a fresh graduated or as experienced one? and does I count as E1 and skg9 (if im not mistaken)? You can always request for a transfer after 3 years but I guess being in operations is also good as it will exposed you to the nitty gritty of the well operations. Once you have your operations experience, you can then moved either to the Exploration division or the Petroleum Engineering division (which handles all the development geology side of things under the asset teams concept). Get as much experience as you can and then chart your career from there. I started immediately with 3D geological modeling which is good but obviously I lack the operations experience. |

QUOTE(kingozil8 @ Sep 26 2012, 09:39 AM) hye sifu2.. Usually in Petronas how long they take to process the application?for fresh grads.. in my case, it took 7 months since SI until they sent me the offer letter..and just an advice, you'd better still try to apply to another company, because beside the process will be so long and the HR are not cooperative/informative to us (candidates)..anyway good luck for your application Added on September 26, 2012, 9:39 amhye sifu2..
