I'm a geologist will be based in KLCC, to be attached to a new department under PMU. I wonder why they didn't ask me for medical checkup yet. They really handle things differently from person to person, your case proves that they can process it very quicky if they want to.

I was told that the HR person handling my brother's application is on a course. Next week baru masuk office. They really have no sense of urgency ..... (that's probably why they are in HR)

For info, passing SI doesnt mean u r confirmed to be employed by Petronas but just an indication that u had passed the test and qualified to become Petronas staff..
Ur name will be there in the list to be selected by specific line management..and if lucky enough u will then being offered position..
And if u had passed SI, the chances to be employed is about 50%...wink.gif

HI Im new here not sure if im in the right forum topic.

I attended SI on the 1st of Nov and called them after 2 weeks. they say i pass the SI. A week after i called them to ask whats next, they advise me that they had a position for me and wait for a letter to go for medical. After a week i got an email from carigali hr Nur azielah asking for my result.
I only got a CGPA of 2.0. I followed up again with her and she mentioned that i would not get a job due to my CGPA as the minimum to get in Petronas is 2.75 CGPA and since i do not have more than 3 years working exp.
My agrument is:
Even candidates who got a CGPA of 3.5 cant even pass the SI
and they should have review my results before calling in for an interview.

So the outcome is, they said get a masters degree or try again once i have more than 3 year revelant working experience.

This is not professional of them and unfair.

Any of petronas staff out there with some advise on who can i address this matter too?

Thank You

they have been massively recruiting for the RAPID project since early last year..heard they need about 4000 engineers, and I'm one of them.

we're currently being seconded to several OPUs, Kerteh, Melaka, Bintulu etc. After RAPID is completed in 2015 then only we'll be transferred to Pengerang..what my colleagues and I did was just upload our resume at discoverpetronas.com without applying for any job and then one day the HR called us to attend SI.

all of us who are under the program have less than 3 years experience, so I'm not sure if it's different for people who have more experience.

Hey guys. It's obviously a dream for most of us to work with Petronas, including me, but I'm an English major. Do you think it's possible for me to work with Petronas? About a month ago I heard they're looking for a writer? I sent an email to their HR 2 weeks ago.. Well, I have a feeling that they're just gonna ignore it haha tongue.gif

interesting.. is this the so called Petronas Rapid? i see two different type of recruiting here:
1. Those who supposed to be transferred there in 2015, but currently undergoing secondment at other petronas facilities.
2. Those who are currently building the facilities itself, i heard they had several offices around kl & overseas also.

True that they were unprofessional (interviewed you without screening your qualification properly) and you do have my sympathy. But my advice is, forget about it.

Truth is, there are so many of them inside Petronas with BOTH excellent academic result and impressive interview skills. The HRM can choose not to compromise the quality. And even though you have passed SI, there is no 100% guarantee that you will get a placement unless you have already signed the contract.

Try again when you have the relevant working experience.

You have 2 choices.

1. Forget about it.
2. Make a lot of noise about it. File a formal complaint to the higher management; stating your case in details, including all the money that you'd spend to attend the interview, only to be told that you won't get the job because of your CGPA.

PM me if you want to know more about her.

Just got an email last week after 3 month waiting for medical checkup letter.

"We are pleased to inform that you are recommended for employment with PETRONAS within 6 months from the interview date.

We wish to highlight that the placement is subjected to PETRONAS current vacancy and business requirement.

Should you receive no response within 6 months from the interview date, you are deemed not shortlisted for any current vacant position in PETRONAS.

Please be reminded to keep your profile updated in PETRONAS recruitment portal at www.discoverpetronas.com as all information in the portal will be used throughout the recruitment process."

What does she mean by this? So I have to apply again or what?

Just replied to HR's email to find out my status. Guess what, received an auto-reply, she's on long leave until Feb 4. I guess handing over tasks to colleagues is not necessary for their HR. tongue.gif

That's all I need to know. I'm fine waiting as long as I know what's going on and can schedule my travels accordingly.
