I have identified one model - 3M CounterTop Drinking Water System CTM02; but am unsure if it's safe for direct-from-tap consumption. It can filter up to 0.5 microns, and has NSF 42 and 53 certifications (whatever that means..) http://www.lazada.com.my/shopnsave-3m-coun...15364.html?ff=1Thanks in advance. I am using this too, and I still boil my water. To me, as long as it does not come with UV system to kill virus/bacteria, it is not safe for drinking direct. Refer to attachment below. It says tested in accordance to NSF/ANSI, but did not state certified to. The second circled statement says it all.
Edit: crap, I thought TS was referring to CTM-01. Info above is for CTM-01 This post has been edited by mushigen: Apr 16 2017, 12:40 PM

But I see Cuckoo, Diamond, and Coway don't really have UV tech - bu yet is safe enough for direct from tap consumption. Hence, was wondering if this 3M filter is on par with them? If so, seems like a value buy given that the price is only ~1/3

Hi guys. Im one of the 3M water filter user since a year ago And Im still enjoyed using until now haha. I met a problem which is similiar like you last year. Faced a lot of the questions while choosing the water filtration system. Even though I tried Google it but i still couldn't get the exact result. Then I checked on FB and found a page called 'Panaxy Group' ,which is the Authorised Distributor of 3M water filter. PM them and they were really patient and responsive. Answered all my questions and Im really satisfied with their service and products! After that i get myself an outdoor filter AP902 which do not need any backwash and A water dispenser HCD-02 which comes with UV light and do not need any maintenance (just change the cartridge myself and it is cheap) So i suggest you if you meet any problem.. just try to check from them. They will give u advices and explanations. After all, 3M is quite a reliable brand. Of course the price is abit high lol.. but i think that it worth the price.

I've decided to go with Mi Water Purifier. ~1k for RO - can filter out the microorganisms. Downside is the water will demineralised though

Somemore the price of 3M CTM-02 is around 1k too. You are able to get clean and healthy water (coz there is mineral).. Somemore if im not mistaken.. 3M is carrying out a promotion. Try 3M AP Easy Complete which can ne installed undersink. Just my advice. Respect your decision!

While malaysian treated water shouldn't have germs due to the presence of chlorine, but there might be isolated incident due to water pipe burst or other contamination. So yes, just for the piece of mind.
