I just want to ask, is it true that in Japan the Nintendo Switch is only rm1200 (console only)?

=
Are there any methods to buy one and send it to Sabah, and are the transport / freight charges exhorbitant? Taxes by Malaysia customs?

Yea. I got it for rm1200 in Japan. After tax deduction.

Maybe someone could answer ur 2nd question.
Amiibo's price can be as cheap as RM8 to as expensive as RM150, or even more. It depends on rarity. It is especially hard to be found in Malaysia since lack of demand.
*
Thank you. At least now can confirm its far cheaper in the motherland (that means need tax reduction to work as well, so might as well one go and buy every darn accessories to take full advantage)

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Apr 25 2017, 05:40 PM)
usually can be shipped via 3rd party forwarder, and customs sure kacau one when reach our shores
so shipping + customs tax it's more or less just slightly cheaper than buying locally, minus the warranty

IMO, it's only worthwhile if you can buy there locally and bring it home yourself
*
Noted with gratitude. I was thinking of having a friend (if they ever go there, or return there) to grab me a unit, unbox, get all the necessary accessories like screen protector, soft-shell cases, a carrying pouch, etc, then bring it back nicely in a bag. I don't really mind the unboxing experience.

I've got a family member going to Japan.

I'm thinking of using my CC, buy there, have it sent to my visiting family member, and let them take back for me.

Is it worth it? I don't really care for the unboxing, etc.

Or still lacking of supply in Japan?

Hi all sifus, WTA the current price for switch (console only)~

Also I want to confirm that is the game purchase from the Nintendo store is bind to the console itself? instead of bind the purchased game to the account like play station?
Coz I saw a Youtuber that he has lost his switch and he can't retrieve his save data nor re-download the purchased game the store.
In the end, he had to re-purchase all the games again.

11street is doing some sort of promo, at Rm1500 only. I think its a great value at that price. However, I'm not sure of the warranty.

Disclaimer: I was shown that ad by another friend who was helping me to look out for decent value prices for Nintendo Switch.

hey folks. Sorry about this noob question.

My Nintendo Switch is on its way, all the way from Australia.

I just want to ask. Before getting the unit. Do I have to make any accounts, etc?

What are the things that I need to be aware of? General tips are also welcomed.

Thanks.

Kind of super excited.

Dayum that's a lot, sure lots of money will fly.

BTW, any recommended brands?

Or should I go with those "all in one packs" that Lazada sells? (they're some weird brands, and don't have official Nintendo partner stickers or something)

Though I'm told to avoid Nintendo brand SD cards because those are rebranded Sandisks.

BTW, can anyone recommend a "starter kit"?

The more it covers, the better. LOL

I see a couple of shops in KL malls selling a new Switch for RM1500+. Why tho, overstocked? Bad sales?
*
overstocked probably. in Japan its sold out, but in SEA and AUS, stock was never an issue. There was more to supply. The real problem? Maxsoft.

do you mean they mark up alot ?

Yeah. Marked up kaw kaw. That's how they profit.

Maxsoft is after all a subsidiary / part of Nintendo, if i'm not mistaken.

then it makes all the more sense to buy somewhere else if warranty is not a concern right ?

never had to claim warranty for my gaming consoles, but this kind of thing very hard to say  tongue.gif
*
depends.

Like the Australian unit I got had international warranty on it. But I don't think I could just go to Maxsoft and say "honor it!". Touchwood.

Hi. Can I ask is there a telegram group for Nintendo Switch owners in Malaysia / Lowyat.net forum?

I hope that there's one that can be recommended to join! biggrin.gif

LAZADA SG is having some sort of sales for the Nin.Switch Pro controller.

Around 79SGD for each. Can get as low as 70SGD if you can apply the proper vouchers.

Wow.

My Switch arrived from Australia... and gosh...

I can't stop marvelling at it.

It is tiny, and not not the most scratch resistant, but... gosh. It does feel great!

Let's just say I got it with discounts for almost RM1.2k . Furthermore, it was a gift

But yeah, its a good thing that prices are slowly going down. Good for new adopters who are on the fence.

Now I can understand why everyone is looking for a pro controller.

The original joycons are just too small! (not bulky enough)

yo folks.

Any Hulu users here?

Can I ask if its good, on the Switch?

Last time I had Astro. Now I don't. My guess is Hulu is something a bit like Astro?

Any advice?

add on:

IF I wanna buy 2nd hand cartridge games for Switch, any recommendations where I can visit online?

and also, does anyone know how to get the Nintendo companion app that can be installed for Android? Seems like Malaysia is not on the list of playstore where it can be downloaded. Any advice?

Go for Netflix. Hulu is not as good.

What do you mean by "companion app"? I only know the Parental Control app....only in certain countries like Playstore US. But you can get it from other unofficial market place. I got my Parental control app there....cant remember name of marketplace though.

Like the one for Splatoon 2? Where you download and use it to voicechat?

QUOTE(zack9999 @ Dec 27 2017, 10:21 AM)
Hulu is like iflix, netflix, tonton etc. It specializes in TV series.
But Hulu does not have presence in Malaysia. By that I mean you cannot register a Hulu account using a Malaysian address. Only Netflix can. But there is no Netflix app on Switch. There is only a Hulu app.

I don't know any 2nd hand cartridge. Let me know if anyone know.
*
So that means Hulu should be out of the question then. Sigh.

Yeah, i'm seriously looking for a Zelda BOTW 2nd hand cartridge.

Actually you still can subacribe to Hulu. I used to have Huluplus account. After a while, most of my favorite Tv series moved to Netflix,  so i dont bother anymore..

But you will need a Geolocation DNS service like Getflix or a VPN service to watch Huluplus.

I use Getflix to watch Netflix US, but you can watch Netflix malaysia without any extra VPN or DNS service.
*
ain't feasible if all I want is to watch Hulu on the Switch. Like too much trouble. LOL

But seriously, I'm looking for Zelda (don't mind the DLC, maybe will get it in the future)

I believe Hulu will eventually come to Malaysia as Netflix has. And Nintendo also said before that a Netflix app is coming. But in the age of smartphone nowadays, if you want to buy a Switch to watch tv etc, you don't need to buy a Switch. Switch is about gaming.

Another thing to note is that you can have Hulu account by registering a US address maybe. I have not tried. But it will expose you to currency exchange fluctuation. I believe Netflix in Malaysia is not censored and the government has given a guarantee that it will not censor Netflix. But there are certain movies and tv series that will not be available for Malaysia-based accounts because of licensing issue.

thanks for the reply.

well a phone is a phone, especially the fact that i'm using a BlackBerry (a BlackBerry KeyONE to be exact, which runs on Android). The Switch is a console for entertainment, so I intend to have it that way.

To the other poster, I think i saw a comment about VPN and stuffs but it got deleted. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll see if its worth it in Switch. Else, I might as well wait for Netflix proper.
