Thinking of doing Uber / Grab on a part-time basis. However need a newer car, so which one should I choose?

I've narrowed down my search to the following 3 cars:

1. Proton Saga. The reason, cheapest and largest booth space among the 3, large boot space and airport trips should not be a problem. Concerns, maintenance cost and reliability concerns over the CVT gearbox. Brakes are not very good.

2. Axia. Cheap operating cost and maintenance. Concerns, Small boot space, might be a concern for airport trips.

3. Myvi. Cheap operating cost and maintenance. Concerns, Small boot space, might be a concern for airport trips, cost the most among the three.

Thanks for your input. smile.gif

Any reason you are suggesting this car? Considering this is the most expensive among the 3 and business-wise, it would not be a good choice at least for a start.

My budget is around 20K and it would be difficult to find one at that price since the secondary market is very new.

Anyone using an Axia and would like to comment? Turn down any trip due to luggage could not fit into the car?

how many times did you have a cancellation if any due to space restriction on your Axia? Is your Axia manual or auto? Thanks.

Came up with an excel sheet(unable to attach to this post, figures are all over the place) for 4 of my target cars(Saga, Axia, Persona and Myvi), year 2014 and above.
If I drive for about 4 hours a day on a part-time basis, my income would be RM50 per day or RM1500 per month(estimated fare based on my conversation with an uber driver). However, this RM1500 is a false figure when you consider depreciation of the car and other maintenance and yearly cost. The actual income would be about 600 to 900 based on car type.

Full time would be worth, can earn about 5k a month after minus all the hidden charges which not many people take into consideration, but for part-timer is it really worth?

Considering the petrol price in Malaysia, can drivers still be able to cover the costs and earn from the rides?

Have a look at my other post with relation to cost. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4274141

Don't feel it is worth driving on part-time basis while have to buy a car for the sole purpose of driving for uber/grab. Calculation based on fuel priced at RM2.24, price at that time.
