Hi guys,

Is there an Android Apps out there to transform smartphone into competent camera? What I meant is the Apps will:

1. Able to start/wake the phone in camera mode, with preferred shooting mode (e.g. in B&W or Shutter Priority).

2. Provide fast access to adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO... etc. Either through screen or button (the apps overwrite some button function such as volume rocker).

3. Able to suppress shutter sound. Certain phone model have shutter sound that cannot be turn off.

4. In phone RAW processing, maybe this is too much to ask, but sure is good to have.

My thought is to make my phone into a street shooter, fast and discreet. cool2.gif

why do u even need an app?
quite a few phones can quick start by long press power button / volume button / dedicated shutter.

There is such an app but there will definitely be no aperture control cause where got aperture blade on phone? Secondly iso performance will be so abymal that 100% u will use noise reduction. And really i have tried the app, that u might as well use default auto cause there will be little difference or advantage at all and it be better than gerting bad shots cause of fiddling.

Ya, fiddling with the with those parameter might yield little different. But I think it's nice to have so you can play around with it. Maybe we can get something interesting out of it?

As for the aperture on phone camera, I didn't know they are fixed. Gotta keep updated these days...

This is lens aperture:

Highly unlikely you will find such mechanism in smartphones except panasonic DMC-CM1. Also why need one since the sensor so small that the DOF is plenty wide in the first place. And you can't get much bokeh unless you use iphone bokeh software.

try some: http://www.phonearena.com/news/4-camera-ap...ollipop_id71964

but dont expect much. i used the Manual camera app on my iphone before...nothing much you can do with the hardware you have. only good thing is for long shutter speed shots but then it's best to have a tripod. if you are carrying a tripod, might as well bring a proper camera haha

Better to get a DSLR camera if u are playing with lens & shutter etc ... there's still drawbacks & limits on what the app & the phone camera can do ...

I already have a Fuji X10, which I'm very happy with. Just want something pocket-able with me all the time. So either a capable camera phone (but still found most are cumbersome to use), or a advance compact like Ricoh GRD IV (Snap Focus is fantastic for run-and-gun street shoot!).
