If u don't mind, pls let me know the done-deal price u sell the Triade for. I'll be selling mine in the near future, so I wanna get a ballpark figure of what it's worth; am winding down on vaping very gradually.

Some time last year I bought a supercheap pocket microscope from shopee. One evening I decided to use it to view some coils. Holyfishcakes! The SS coil I had been rocking for about 6 or 7 weeks looked really pitted. Made me wonder where all the metal which came from those pits went to.

I now slap in fresh coils if the surface of the wire starts to feel a bit bumpy and mottled (after a dry burn). Figured that the bumpiness precedes the metal starting to flake off and produce those pits.

Try spacing yr SS coils...slightly slower ramp-up compared to contact coils but that can be compensated for in preheat.


Never washed a dryburned coil before...a few light strokes of a wire brush does the trick, and I don't have to think about thermal shock.

If metal is flaking off the coil already, it stands to reason there MAY be some particles in the vapor u inhale.

OK...let's rule out the physical condition of the coil, and contact coils as possible causes. Now let's try to eliminate other possible reasons for it.
Try SS and kanthal coils (just plain wire, no claptons/aliens/twisted pair etc) on the same model dripper using same type of cotton, juice and if possible, same wattage on the same mod. Give each build equal vaping time.

If after a week the SS build starts to taste funky again while the kanthal is still ok, that would probably mean that SS's "cleaner" taste allows you to feel that difference.

I do know how irksome such a mystery as yours can become. It's like an itch u can't scratch.
Speaking for myself, I'd not bother to go to such a great length. Vaping is meant to be enjoyed, and too much pondering over minutiae could detract from it. Just install fresh SS coils every week, rock the kanthal for a month+ and savor the clouds!

It may take several tries over a few days, but eventually a seller will pop up. Chat with the guy for e-juice supply. They have runners bringing the stuff in from indon and JB. Prices are high, and u will be checked out at meetups before any product is shown...very cloak n dagger.

As per the godrotting draconian law here, nic is a scheduled poison and unlicensed imports are confiscated. Other ppl in past versions of this thread have also suffered similar losses in the thousands of ringgit. Usually confiscated e-juices will be destroyed; that's the normal protocol. But this being Malaysia, I somehow get the sneaking suspicion that confiscated juices won't totally go to waste....much in the same way the kids of a certain kastam officer never lack for firecrackers during the past 12 hari rayas.

At least we still can vape here for the time being. Singapore's total ban is ludicrous and shows just how much their govt cares for the health of the public vis a vis tobacco tax dollars. Harm reduction takes a back seat to revenue reduction. Would that all govts were as enlightened as the UK's and NZ (which recently legalized vaping). As an ex-smoker who finally found freedom from tobacco via vaping, I sympathize greatly with those wanting to quit the habit but are hindered by unreasonable laws. Glad that prices have dropped. I only bring cheap mods when traveling, so any loss/destruction is not painful, just inconvenient.

In Thailand, owning vaping paraphernalia for personal use is not a crime...that little napoleon who confiscated your mod must have really wanted it. To prevent further losses, do check the purse/handbag/bodily orifices of your date for the night before allowing her to leave the room....some ppl will steal anything!
