Hi bros, I am new to the world of CC I tried studying what you guys have posted all this while but still got some doubts: 1) Choosing to pay my house loan as well as insurance by monthly instalment (auto debit) will entitle me for 2 % rebate, right? 2) I usually top up my prepaid at XOX online portal. Is that considered online spend or "Other retail spend"? 3) I started using my cimb CC in April but till now still have not received any e-statement. Is this normal? I expect it will be sent to my email. (I realise I can check my transactions in CIMB clicks though) 4) I found the MCC with four figures following it useless because I never know exactly which shop is listed under each MCC. How do you guys know ah? That's all my stupid questions. Happy Labour Day This post has been edited by kclamtarc: May 1 2017, 06:56 PM

QUOTE(David83 @ May 1 2017, 07:00 PM) 1) You cannot repay house loan with credit card. So this is out of scope. Auto debit for insurance premium payment will not entitled for CB. This is under exclusion clause. 2) No idea with XOX. Need others to comment. 3) Statement will be sent to your registered email. So far not yet received. It could be late sometimes. 4. Once swiped, call CS to ask for MCC. Wow, thanks a lot for your feedback bro!

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 10 2017, 09:34 PM) Only 0.2%, unless SI is 2%. 2% cash back for Mobile plan payment via SI, as far as I know, only applies to certain telco such as Digi, Celcom... not sure if the 'new' ones like XOX or Redone is entitled or not

just performed my transaction at Taobao. when it's time to do payment, it shows payment using credit card will charge 3% service fee. then i thought not worth it, even though got 5% CIMB cash rebate, but minus 3% taobao service fee, I only left with 2%. Then I remember you guys mentioning sth like cross border fee, got charge 1% again. so eventually I just did online banking oh. have i done a stupid thing? :/

QUOTE(chiahau @ May 19 2017, 08:06 AM) I dislike paying through cash. If there are some reasons the seller made a mistake or the shipment is taking too long, using CC allows me the flexibility to "dispute" that transaction.. And I do not "lose" any form of cash during that procedure. thanks @fruitie @lilsunflower @chiahau I just spent RM 108 this time so will treat it as an opportunity for me to use CC wiser next time Thanks for the experience shared

conversely, if we do not go overseas recently, can we request to customer service to temporary deactivate the overseas usage of our credit card? I heard people saying once we use our credit card for overseas transaction, it is more prone to be misused. please correct me if i am wrong

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 23 2017, 01:05 AM) Damn it. Two of my Taobao transactions recorded under Hangzhou. That's it 0.2% cash back. I really don't know why CIMB still hasn't done any adjustment to do this. How safe is it to use credit card for overseas transaction like taobao? I heard people saying using Credit card for overseas transaction is more prone to people stealing your info

may i know what do you guys do when received your monthly statement? do you go try calculate each spending and see whether the total cash back printed in statement tally with your own calculation? because this is what i did, seem very ngiaw chee but i think that's the purpose I apply for cash back credit card haha.
i wonder why CIMB does not make the effort to clearly list out how many cash rebate we got for each individual spending rather than put in a total amount of cash rebate we get. afterall the system should be able to generate in just a click..?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 2 2017, 05:32 PM) Not only CIMB others as well. So far I know HLB Wise and MACH do this by tagging the categories. hahaha... can we request to CIMB too? QUOTE(vez @ Jul 2 2017, 06:26 PM) yes i do calculate myself, so i can clearly have an idea what get CB, for CIMB and UOB(also dont have detail on CB, just a sum up total) i can imagine one possible thing to happen is what you calculate does not tally with the statement, maybe in terms of few cents or 1 ringgit plus.

guys, may i know how u guys calculate the total of cash rebates you will get for each month? I mean, each month we spend on online purchase, fuel purchase, dine in, standing instructions etc... so I suppose by month end, we download the credit card excel form, then do manual calculation on which transaction should get 2%, which should get 5%, which should get 0.2%. so at the end, if our cash rebate amount is not the same as the sum we calculated by our own, how do u know which transaction calculated wrongly by the system in terms of the % of cash rebate we should receive?

QUOTE(laymank @ Nov 16 2017, 04:12 PM) did you request to lower the alert amount to RM1 or something like that? Yes I am using Petronas, and everytime I pump I get this SMS notification. And yes, I opted to be notified even with minimum spending of RM 1 using CC. Just sharing info.
