I just started calculating my cash back this month. The following transactions are eligible for 5% online transactions cash back:

- Expedia (EXPEDIA XXXXXXXXXXXXX EXPEDIA.MY ES)
- KFC Delivery via website (KFC DELIVERY-EC KUALA LUMPUR MY)
- Dominos Pizza via website (DOMINO'S PIZZA SELANGOR MY)
- GSC via website (GSC ALAMANDA PUTRAJAYA PUTRAJAYA MY)
- AWS bill (Amazon web services aws.amazon.coUS)
- Microsoft Office 365 monthly subscription (MICROSOFT *OFFICE 36 XXXXXXXXXX SG)
- Grab (*GRAB TAXI PETALING JAYAMY)

The following transactions are eligible for 2% groceries cash back:

- Mymydin (MY MYDIN-PUTRA WALK SERI KEMBANGAMY)

Sadly, one transaction which I was hoping to get 5% cash back only got 0.2% cash back:

- YNAB yearly subscription (YOU NEED A BUDGET LEHI US)

Not sure why I didn't get it since it's obviously an online transaction. Any clues why?

Overall, my cash back for this card is only 1.92% and 1.69% for principal and supplementary respectively. It's low because I only found out PTPTN didn't qualify for 5% cash back anymore. bangwall.gif

did you get hit with cross border fees for Expedia,  AWS and Microsoft ? I am guessing you paid MYR for Expedia/Microsoft and Amazon you paid in US dollars ?
Yes, there's border fees for those 3, and I paid in MYR for Expedia and Microsoft, and USD for Amazon.

QUOTE(DarReNz @ May 30 2017, 06:45 AM)
For YNAB, if you are 100% sure it's online follow these steps mentioned in post #3

To obtain 5% cash rebate from Customer Resolution Unit (CRU)
Ah, thanks! I will definitely try that.

if it is charged under USD and converted to MYR won't have cross border fees however if charged under MYR as you mentioned Expedia/Microsoft does incur the 1% fee, just to confirm YNAB is it using web or mobile app when you made payment ?

Payment is made via web.

For Agoda, if it says "Pay nothing until...", does this means pay later, and it's only eligible for 0.2% cash back? Or pay later is referring to the case where you book online and pay at the hotel? How does the "Pay nothing until..." works anyway? Your credit card will be automatically billed after the specified date?

Update on this issue: After emailing to CRU last week, a representative from CRU finally called me to elaborate on why I didn't get cash back for YNAB. According to her, the transactions are not eligible for the 5% online cash back because the merchant uses a standing instruction payment term (may not be what she said exactly, because my memory is bad). Because of this, the transactions are categorized as standing instruction on CIMB side, so they are only eligible for the 0.2% cash back.

However, to honour my request, CIMB has decided to reward me the 5% cash back for these transactions for one time only. rclxms.gif This is good enough for me.

hi, are we allowed to carry forward the cash rebate for next month statement.

Let say we got rm30 rebate for month 1, then we didn't use it to offset payment for month 2 statement, will it be carry forward?

and if let say, I didn't use it to offset month 2 statement and in month 2 I got another rm30 cash rebate. Will it appear as rm60 rebate in month 3?

Thanks.

Appreciate assistance here.

What do you mean by offset payment? You don't need to offset anything. Every time you receive your statement, you just pay the statement balance. The cashback you receive will be deducted from the statement balance already.

Refer to first page, or try searching the thread. If there are no results, it most probably means that no one have tried yet. You can be the first one to try and report it here. tongue.gif

The 15% cashback is only limited to this year only, capped at RM25. After that it's only 1% cashback for Lazada, with RM10 annual fee. CIMB CR is way better with 5% cashback and no annual fee. sweat.gif

QUOTE(zzzhhhzzz @ Jun 21 2017, 07:29 AM)
this card says 15% discount but in the TnC it is stated 15% cash back.... so which is true ? So for this card I can use lazada promotion code (let say 10% code) and then pay with this card, so in total can get 25% ? anyone have this card and any feedback ? worth applying ?
*
1. It's a prepaid card, not a credit card. Thus you lose some of the advantages of using a credit card, such as the ability to delay payment, fraud protection, and improving your credit score.
2. The 15% cash rebate (i.e. cash back) is only available until the end of this year, capped at RM25 a month. Starting next year, it's only 1% cash rebate.
3. It has RM10 annual fee (starting second year I think).

Because of these 3 points, I feel that CIMB CR is way better because (1) it's a credit card, (2) it has 5% cashback for many online merchants, not just Lazada, capped at RM30 each month, and (3) it has no annual fee.

If you want to apply for it, go ahead. Since it's a prepaid card, the application process should be simple, and you don't have to be approved — you'll get it 100%.

I wanna apply for CIMB CC, anyone knows if they are having some promotion in shopping malls for application?

You first CIMB CC? Why not just apply online? There's currently a signup promo where you can get RM100 Tesco voucher, JBL Go speaker, or Electrolux coffee maker.

Hmm..  hmm.gif  Will think about it. As Public Bank RM200 lazada voucher seems a bit more interesting.  cool2.gif

Thanks though!
*
Why not just apply both and get RM100 + RM200?
Anyway, in my opinion, Tesco voucher is better than Lazada voucher since I can use it to buy groceries. Indirectly, I am converting the voucher into RM100 cash, where I have the freedom to do anything I want with the cash (save it, invest it, etc.).

May I know how did you guys apply for the Cash Rebate Platinum card i.e. through agent, banks or online? I've done the online application but was rejected right off after sending them the documents. CS refused to tell me the reason for rejection. My monthly salary is definitely more than RM24,000.00 per year. Anyone can enlighten me on this? Or is there any person from bank or agent who knows about this? Thank you.
*
Banks have the right not to tell you why they rejected your application.
Is this your first credit card? If yes, then it's normal for your credit card applications to get rejected due to a lack of credit history. This happened to me too. I just tried again after a few months.

I guess I'm the no credit history.  bangwall.gif

It's normal for banks to reject your application if you don't have sufficient credit history. When I first started using credit cards, my applications were regularly rejected. If I'm not mistaken, it took me 3 applications to get CIMB CR, with 1 – 2 months gap between each applications.
After 7 – 8 months, it got easier to get approved. I once applied for 3 credit cards from 3 different banks in a single month, and surprisingly all were approved. biggrin.gif

Why does it seemed so hard to obtain a credit card?  rclxub.gif
*
Because credit card is an unsecured debt. If you end up not paying your credit card debt, it's difficult for the bank to get their money back. They can only threaten you with words and legal actions.
Hence, credit card is risky to the bank, so they want to make sure that they only give it to those who have a high chance of paying them back. If you don't have a credit history, they just assume that you are risky and reject your application.

On the other hand, debts like car loan or house loan are secured debts. If you end up not paying your loan, the bank has the right to take away your car or house. The bank can then sell it to get some of the money back. So it's a bit easier to get approved secured loans compared to credit cards.

Hi guys, I just got my very first credit card. I want to know how does it work.

I checked the FAQ it says the statement date is 28th of every month. (I am using Cash Rebate).

1. Any amount spent until 28th of this month, I have to pay back before 28th to avoid the interest.
2. Any amount spent until 28th of this month, it will be counted as one statement, and I have to pay back that amount before 28th of NEXT month, in order to prevent the interest.

I have these 2 scenarios and I don't know which one is correct. Can anyone clarify for me?
*
It's neither. After the statement has been issued, you have 20 days to pay the statement balance before any interest is charged.
Just wait for your first statement. It will state the due date of the payment like so:

So it is calculated as RM1000(NEW) + (RM1000 X 1.5%) + RM300 + (RM300 X 1.5%) on my 28th October statement instead of RM1000(new) + RM300 + (RM300 X 1.5%)?

Edit: I am more concerned with the interest rate. from CIMB website it says 1.5% per month or 18% per annum. How they even get to use 18% per annum to charge me when I pay off my outstanding balance in few months time?
*
If I'm not mistaken, when you carry a balance, you will be charged interest daily.
So if your balance is RM300, then everyday you will be charged RM300 x 18% / 365 = RM0.15.
If your balance is RM1300, then everyday you will be charged RM1300 x 18% / 365 = RM0.64.
To precisely calculate the interest charged is cumbersome. Most of us are not concerned by the interest rate simply because we never carry a balance.

Hence, it is highly recommended to pay off your balance in full every month. If you are thinking not to pay in full, I highly recommend that you stay away from credit cards, as it can potentially ruin your finance.
Like seriously. Every now and then you can see a thread pops up in the forum about someone asking for advice to fix his/her financial problem, and the culprit is usually credit card debt.
