Does this recent update any good? No major bugs? Very sceptical when it comes to Xiaomi's update. I don't know why.

Not entirely related but I have a spare Redmi 4 Prime lying around. Never before load custom recovery but I'm good with following instructions. Just wondering if I flashed lineage(for example), does it have OTA? If not then, do devs update it frequently(mean I have to manually update)?

most custom rom doesn't have OTA.
need to flash via twrp when there is update. manually.
the frequent of update is depend on the dev and popularity of the device itself.
if many supporter, dev will continue update it.

Right. I'm noob in this. Does flashing the update wipe my data(means like fresh instal)?

flashing the update doesn't wipe the data.
all apps and data still intact.
if flashing new rom will clean all data. become new fresh phone. (just the system only )
but the best practice is always make backup before update.

I see. Like that okay lah. I thought before people on custom ROM have so much free time to reinstall apps and copy paste their data every update.

Hi guys, would like to get an update of the latest rom performance, is all good?
I'm still on ver 8.

for me, all good.
normal usage on socmed with some games.
right now on stable rom 9.6.2.0.

9.5 is fine I guess. You'll get nougat and the MIUI itself got that nice feel due to new transition effect

Just updated to 9.6.2. I skipped last one update so I'm coming from before the last one. Can't remember. 9.6.0.11 or something.
So far I don't feel any different. But one but I notice is that when I open open Settings, type something in Search, nothing come out. Settings close itself.
Do you face similar issue?
I've done 3 times shutdown(not reboot) just in case.

Read about this bug when I wanted to update to 9.5.11.0. Some users on MIUI forum did face this issue back then(I didn't). But now, haiz~
I even cleared all data for Settings app(didn't work).

maybe last choice is factory reset.

Trying to avoid that. It'll reset my setting(only setting right). Don't wanna hassle to set it up again.

Try redownload back and run the update. Redownload using the system update. Tap the 3 dot and choose download update. Or just go download manually and update by placing the download rom in the downloaded_rom folder and then in system update app use choose update package

Recently upgraded to 9.6.2 ROM. It has serious battery drain issue even after I tried factory reset and battery calibration. I recommend everyone to skip this rom.

Anyone knows how to downgrade rom version without unlocking bootloader?
