Since there's so much demand on antennas, I will share a bit on some basic antenna guide.

Don't bother on tiny antenna, you are better off with the internal antenna in that case. I do not recommend getting antenna unless the signal is terrible at your location. LTE is much more complicated than GSM.

If you really need it, get a panel antenna and make sure you aim it right. Use tools like MDMA to assist you. Aim around until you get the best signal. Feel free to ask me for more info. smile.gif

can recommend any good antenna to use?

Not recommended unless you install it correctly. LTE is much more complicated, unlike 3G. You are better off try to place your modem at a better place.

I will use the antenna like this and call it a day. Even Cisco use this kind of antenna.

Don't forget that cable used also important. Get the best low loss cable designed specific for telecommunications technology. At least get lmr300 or 5d-fb. The best Lmr400 or 7d-fb. 10meter loss below 3dbi. Market price about RM10 per meter.
*
LMR400 is great but it is overkill for short run 1-3m. It may tear the antenna port out from your USB modem as it is really heavy. sweat.gif

I recommend LMR240. LMR400 is commonly used for in-building coverage by telco.

That 2 antenna in your picture is the one that come with my B310 lols I am better off using the built in antenna.
*
That's what I mean. You are better off by placing your modem at a better place.

I should state that the picture is for the example of the antenna design, the antennas in the picture are crap. Get them from a better manufacturer.

My i150 connection is very stable after i connect using ZTE MF93D borrow from friend  doh.gif

No more download speed skyhigh and then drop to zero.

Waiting for the omni antenna to arrive, if my MR3420 v2 + sierra 320u still failed by that time, then kena tukar setup already  bangwall.gif

Huawei E5186S-22A macam syok eventho my area dont have LTE-A hmm.gif
*
The design of the 320U is quite old already. USB modem + router combo will face some performance issues as well.

All in one router is the way to go if you want performance.

Get Huawei original B593 antenna.

However, I don't really recommend antenna, pure USB modem is good enough. You won't see significant improvement. smile.gif

I could've subscribed to the 500Mbps plan but I don't need that much of a bandwidth.

My fixed broadband is under utilised as well. But now I have a NAS and it is acting as a media server for me to stream movies when I am not home. biggrin.gif

I just received my SIM card today, Digi is really efficient! It takes only 1 day from application to receive the SIM card.

The network is terrible at Subang Jaya though. I am getting just 4Mbps on 4G, luckily this is not where I intend to use this SIM card. Tethered on my Huawei E5776.

From my old Huawei E3276. I consider it to be rather decent. Suburban 4 bars -70dBm

Edit: I am on B7 2600Mhz

Anyone use the E5186s-61a? It is cheaper.

In this case, it's not on dual CA mode. Only single carrier.

I think it's not the hardware fault as Snap 650/652 is known to support cat7 lte and 4g+.. I think it's their manufacturer who restricted it to not support 4g+

Edit: I guess it was a known issue with the phone. Refer here

If you are lucky you can force as well. biggrin.gif

Same way as forcing band on E5186.

How is your speed with E5186? =)
Guys, according to digi website there is no indoor LTE-A coverage at my house but outdoor LTE-A coverage is full. Should i invest in LTE-A modem and yagi/mimo antenna? or just stick with normal LTE modem?

Thanks
*
Buy the router and test first. See what is the difference when it is placed outdoor vs indoor.

Some explanation on LTE technology and modem tips.

LTE-A = Cat 6 and above.
Huawei E398 is Cat 3 (100Mbps)
Huawei E3276 is Cat 4 (150Mbps)
Huawei E5186 is Cat 6 (300Mbps) with dual carrier aggregation

Dual carrier aggregation is the combination of 2 cells in order to deliver higher performance. In layman terms, load balancing. If you are buying a new LTE modem, I suggest getting a CAT6 capable modem. But please make sure you can receive both 1800Mhz and 2600Mhz band first. smile.gif

The performance still depends on signal strength and user density of the particular cell you are connected to.

I'm only got the e398 that you sold. Lol
Tried speedtest using my LG V10..but nt sure its support LTE-A or nt..the speed just barely 20mbps

Neomax3
Ya...LTE-A modem is quite pricey..quite dilema either wanna invest in LTE-A modem or nt..Haha
*
You should be able to get better performance with a Cat 6 capable LTE modem if you already able to get 20Mbps on the E398.

Use MDMA to lock your E398 on 1800Mhz and 2600Mhz and see if you can receive both frequency.

Anyway, Sierra devices run on Qualcomm modem. Some say it is better than Kirin/HiSilicon.
