I have just watched An Inconvenient Truth less than 30 minutes ago, and I have to say that its one of the biggest eye openers I have ever experienced.

I may have been aware of the global warming message (and the ozone layer depletion) issue for a very long time now (easily 20 years ago), and I'm one of those that have never really stood up to take preventive action. I simply couldn't care less considering the fact that my family, my friends, and my own country's government didn't really give a damn about it.

But things have got to start somewhere, and I intend to do it soon. I'm older, wiser now, and with a bigger circle of influence. We have recycling plants now we did not have 20 years ago. We have energy saving appliances now that we did not have back then. We have renewable sources of energy now that once did not exist / were not available. I hope I can do my part, and I hope you guys can too.

To all those skeptics out there, WATCH THE MOVIE - then decide for yourself.

To all those who are reading this. WATCH THE MOVIE ANYWAY.

Al Gore should have won the presidency and not stupid monkey Bush.

Where to watch that movie? or rather, documentary ?

sometimes its our mentality... i've tried separating my rubbish into different categories.. but when you put them together at the side of your bins, the collectors just dump them all back into the same rubbish truck.. so in the end, it makes no difference.

Classic quote from the flashbacks: "Global warming is caused by the gases released from decaying plants." <----- This guy doesn't noe wut's he sayin.

The facts are alarming. The message is clear: it's time for the world to take action against this climate crisis.

C'mon dudes, save those beautiful glaciers and giant ice cubes from melting...

EDIT: There's something called internet, right? The authorities should make this film legal to share on BT....

And this movie is more like a recorded session of one of Al Gore's 1000+ slide show presentation, juz in a more theatrical way...

organic matters (in this case: plant) when they decay/decompose, they release methane (CH4) which absorbs 21x more heat than CO2.

Not true.. at least not the garbage collector in my area..

My garbage collectors actually have separate compartments/bags hanging by its side for different categories of rubbish (for those that do segregate). They collect aluminium cans, paper, plastic and glass instead of dumping them into the compactor. They do make some spare change from selling those items off.

If yours doesn't then consider finding a nearby recycling bin to drop your items off (weekly basis perhaps), or searching for a community project that helps, or sending it straight to the factory (theres one near Old Town PJ).

As to where to watch it, its probably coming to our cinemas soon. If you can't find it on torrent, I really recommend that you buy a pirated version which I'm sure you can find anywhere. It was stated in the credits "Get as many people to watch this movie" after all. tongue.gif

It's not the glaciers and ice cubes I'm worried about. It's the advent of a new ice age, the changing extreme weather patterns, the floodings that will occur, and the destruction of the global ecosystem.

Would one rather watch a slideshow or a movie tongue.gif It did have enough emotional resonance for it to win an Academy award after all hehe.

True, but the amount is minimal and is not what's causing the staggering statistics shown in the movie.

this movie is good, but also if u give the scientific facts, many ppl also like nah don't care...

only those really 'green' ppl really care for the facts in this movie...the rest are either playing games, watching movies or talking about hot celebrities...that's the mentality

The whole Global warming is cause by carbon dioxide emission has crumbled , it does not hold any water, by looking at the temperature b4 1970, it is the fact that there will be climate change no matter how much carbon dioxide will be created.

1 cow emits polluting gas(his fart) in his lifetime equivalent to the 8 cars in 1 sec, make sense.

I watched this documentary at my uni, MMU for free and only 30+ people turn up. Oh well, all humankind are doomed to Hell since we were born anyway. Let's enjoy our life. Who cares about our grandchildrens anyway?

I have to agree. If you look at the temperature charts vs the CO2 emmision charts that go back to the 1820s, you'll see that Al Gore's statements hold no water.

Global warming is yet another product of mass hysteria. Scientific facts PROVE that Global warming isn't happening as much as an ice age. In fact, we're more likely to have an ice age than a planetary warming

Not so much of lies... just how data is twisted to conform to the idea of global warming

This is very interesting.. coming from a moderator.

It's true that facts have been manipulated in Al Gore's documentary for political reasons.

But can't people actually put 1+1 together?

Can you actually deny that the population boom in the last 50 years will not have any profound effect on the environment?

That major deforestation around the world will not affect our climate in any way? That the constant manufacture of automobiles, and the burning of fossil fuels have no negative impact whatsoever?

That no matter the reasons, politically motivated or not, we should still strive to cut down on environmental pollution and exploitation?

That if this continues, global warming or not, we might just end up creating a world with no self sustaining ecosystem / atmosphere in the future?

You mentioned that there are no scientific facts to back up the temperature charts since the 1980's. (I would like a scientific citation here really.. not youtube stuff) Even as if it may be, our CO2 charts ARE off the scale. There IS A REASON why so many nations signed the Kyoto protocol. There is A REASON why more than 99% of REAL scientists (not those bought over by the media, or looking to make a name for themselves) believe in the global warming scenario.

Or are we just so naturally inclined to take the 'self denial' route, so that we feel blissfully ignorant, and thus have no need to take responsibility or do anything about it whatsoever.

Typical.

Just watched this movie and I've gotta say that it is indeed a great documentary. Well, I'm well aware of global warming now. Datas and statistics could be manipulative, I wouldn't say Gore is lying but at least this movie gives an awareness about global warming which I believe alot of us are just being ignorant.

Al Gore rocks .... a one man superpower... doing so much.

No wonder he didn't win ..... so many ecnomies, industrialists and businessmen will be affected by his new 'green' policies.

I hope somehow someway he gets back into politics and WIN ... change the world.
