Huh. My rice cooker with non-stick inner pot developed pittings on the inner surface of inner pot after less than a year. The exposed section is gold colour. Wrote to Panasonic Msia to ask if it is still safe to use and they asked me to send the pot to their service centre for further advise. I am very sure they will say it is wear and tear.
In any case, I won't dare to use it anymore even if they replace a brand new pot. I have heard about toxicity of non-stick surface if scratched, but I thought Pana is a good brand. Hell, I even bought extended warranty for it from HN.

Scratches I can accept. But the pitting is in "dot" form, and there is also pitting at the marking "2" which is the water level where I always cook my rice.

Very troublesome for me to visit there (traffic jam, parking), and the service centre opens Mon to Fri. And no guarantee they will replace the pot, you see.

Anyway, I already bought a Khind cooker with stainless steel internal pot. The Pana now serves to remind me not to be stupid to buy extended warranty

Ha, same experience as when I bought my stand fan with soft switches instead of hard switches, and with 3 preset timers. Cool stuff, but the switches stopped working after some time and I could not even switch it on. Those with hard switches usually can run until the motor koyak, which happens least one decade later.

Yes, I used the rice cooker like how a rice cooker is supposed to be used, which includes washing the rice inside the pot. I don't understand why the inner pot cannot take washing of rice in it, as it would be subjected to even more extreme condition when cooking rice.
