QUOTE(afza @ Apr 21 2017, 01:23 PM)
People always forget that when you are transacting data, there are always more contributing factors to the "speed" of the network. We always blame our providers as they are here and near.

No one even consider the condition of the host server, traffic "speed" of the various hops that the data going through before it even land in Malaysia's gateway and then travel through our provider network before ending on our devices. I believe, the data that travels through various network were charge by respective network provider, and it was not cheap.

Imagine how much Webe (or TM) have to pay to, let say Verizon or NTT or BT or SingTel, to have the data transferred through their network so that the traffic will have the least hops and arrive faster to Malaysia. It will be costly to transfer data from foreign server than the server in Malaysia. Thats why Malaysia have tried (not sure how much effort) to have those service to host in Malaysia so the cost could be lessen. If Google could host their services (Youtube, Gmail etc.) in Malaysia, we'll be having smallest ping and whooping speed irregardless of whatever provider we use. Same goes to the gaming services that we played online.

Our provider can only manage the "speed" in their network only. They can boost, prioritize and separate it into dedicated channel to improve specific service. They can't do that for every incoming traffic. Network congestion are very delicate to handle. But at some point, the infrastructure will be overwhelm (in Webe case, using the mobile data for non mobile things) and they can only mitigate it up to some point where infrastructure had to be upgrade.

When they enter this phase, you can't expect the provider to magically resolve the congestion in a blink (or a day or a week or a month). They need to prepare expansion proposal, get the approval, procure the infra, deliver the infra, install the infra, test the infra then they may commission it to public. All this infrastructure expansion and upgrades cost time and money, A LOT OF MONEY.

So, be considerate when you complaint. It can be the provider fault, it can be the hosting service fault, it can be intermediary network provider fault that you have "slow" stream of movies or bad ping playing WoW etc.

Sorry for your time,
Just an IT guy.

*when you pay peanut, you'll get peanut.
*
but even digi infinite 80 5Mbps is better than Webe limiting the streaming speed to 2Mbps... For less than double the price, can stream even 4K

If u read the faq, it says U need to buy to extend the validity.
*
they can't enforce faq, read the TnC:
https://unifi.com.my/mobile/tnc.html

Specific Terms: unifi Mobile Service For Consumer

4. VALIDITY PERIOD
The SIM Card will remain valid for as long as either one or all of the following activity is carried out;

Reload your Account
Purchase any Add-Ons
Perform any chargeable activity in the form of Call/SMS/usage of Data

Should you fail to do either one or all of the above within a period of ninety (90) days, the SIM Card will become inactive and the Service will be Terminated. The Mobile Number will be released to the general pool of numbers. You will not be able to get back the same Mobile Number.

Ya follow the registration IC. Just activated one, should be free 20GB for all 3. By the way anyone knows how to check the active date? Not showing in the apps...
*
u should ask them for the *XXX# to check everything when doing the collection

u can see all three numbers in one single login? i thought u need to login with individual number? how u can be sure of 20GB share for all 3 numbers? try login each of the number and use some data and see how it goes

What is the definition of "chargeable activity"? anything that causes changes in credit balance (RM)?
*
we need to use and see, but definitely not just performing top up or purchase add on

chargeable means any outgoing usages (that you make), eg call, sms,

incoming calls/sms are not chargeable.
combine with the 2 scenarios, meaning you need to USE, BUY, or RELOAD something. biggrin.gif
*
maybe the usage of call/sms/data from add on and freebies is not included then it make sense
but still worth it for RM10 (the smallest amount to top up) to get 20GB LTE and 50MB high speed data and 10min calls by finishing the free 10 SMS and then use 1 SMS for every 90 days or utilise the call instead whichever lowest to get maximum validity for the data usage (of cos you don't fully utilise the 20GB and extend the validity with 1kb usage)

you can only make calls if u buy add on.
*
are u sure?
they sure got ala carte call/sms/data, else what is the definition of chargeable activity from call/sms/data?

they havn't announce the ala carte price yet but it doesn't mean u must purchase add on then only can use the service, it is just like others prepaid service

Sounds like a plan but if everyone goes this route I think they will bankrupt within a year... Still can't believe making a phone call or sms is eligible to make the line active for another 90 days tho.....Ā  blink.gif
*
i believe not from add on call/sms/data, must be ala carte call/sms/data out of add on

but even chargeable call/sms also worth for another 90 days validity extension

Picked up my sim card from subway pyramid. About the 90 days validity, you're fine as long as the card is active(make calls, send msg, use data, buy add-on) If there's no activity for 90 days straight only then will get terminated.
*
wow, means freebie call/sms also can extend the validity?

meanwhile answer from unifi mobile facebook: Not to worry. You can check further information pertaining to this matter using this link https://unifi.com.my/mobile/index.html?custType=mobile

haha, thanks to the link provided, i have come out with a solution if they don't have PAYU rate for local rate, as i go through roaming rate one by one, the lowest rate is calling to Canada, France, Thailand, UK and USA fixed line which is only RM0.15/min, so means for RM10 reload, we can use it for RM10/RM0.15 = 66.67, 66 X 89 days = 5874 days which is well over 16 years validity for just RM10 top up~

precision calculation, 16 years and 30 days including 366 for the 4th year calculation~

Yeah they urged me to do the same. 20gb data per card is nice but I honestly have no need for that many especially since you still need to 'use' it so it doesnt get terminated.
*
yes, don't port out from your existing telco as their roaming rate is not good.
U mobile still got the lowest RM10 for some countries and u can use dual sim phone to enjoy 16 years validity with just RM10 top up
of cos i wil top up one of the sim card with RM50 and use RM30 on 200min + 200sms and the remaining RM20 can be used for 32 years unless my call/sms finish
then the rest just RM10 top up enough and i can utilise the 100GB with my u mobile prepaid (currently still U28 and will switch to prepaid after got the unifi mobile with free 20GB each)
i no need to worry about my call/sms/data anymore as i burn so much of call/sms/data if i went to offshore but still need to pay RM29.70 every month just to keep the number.
now i just need to top up RM2 for 60 days to keep my u mobile number and utilise unifi mobile for daily usage
