That's insane, what's the average speed you got mostly?
Also, how to check if area got band 38?

For android, you can use this app, LTE Discovery

Not really familiar with  VoLTE
What I do know is crisp quality talk time?
Normally when you call someone, signal drops from LTE to 3G, that still happens with VolTE?
*
With VoLTE you can get HD voice call quality. With VoLTE the signal does not drop to 3G when you receive a call.
But currently, only certain android smartphones and Apple iPhone have VoLTE capability.

I see, then what about when people not on VoLTE calling your number?
*
It will use the non VoLTE method. In order to fully utilize VoLTE, both call side must be using VoLTE enabled devices. For example like making a call from one Apple iPhone to another Apple iPhone or to a VoLTE enabled android smartphone.

QUOTE(afza @ Apr 21 2017, 02:23 PM)
People always forget that when you are transacting data, there are always more contributing factors to the "speed" of the network. We always blame our providers as they are here and near.

No one even consider the condition of the host server, traffic "speed" of the various hops that the data going through before it even land in Malaysia's gateway and then travel through our provider network before ending on our devices. I believe, the data that travels through various network were charge by respective network provider, and it was not cheap.

Imagine how much Webe (or TM) have to pay to, let say Verizon or NTT or BT or SingTel, to have the data transferred through their network so that the traffic will have the least hops and arrive faster to Malaysia. It will be costly to transfer data from foreign server than the server in Malaysia. Thats why Malaysia have tried (not sure how much effort) to have those service to host in Malaysia so the cost could be lessen. If Google could host their services (Youtube, Gmail etc.) in Malaysia, we'll be having smallest ping and whooping speed irregardless of whatever provider we use. Same goes to the gaming services that we played online.

Our provider can only manage the "speed" in their network only. They can boost, prioritize and separate it into dedicated channel to improve specific service. They can't do that for every incoming traffic. Network congestion are very delicate to handle. But at some point, the infrastructure will be overwhelm (in Webe case, using the mobile data for non mobile things) and they can only mitigate it up to some point where infrastructure had to be upgrade.

When they enter this phase, you can't expect the provider to magically resolve the congestion in a blink (or a day or a week or a month). They need to prepare expansion proposal, get the approval, procure the infra, deliver the infra, install the infra, test the infra then they may commission it to public. All this infrastructure expansion and upgrades cost time and money, A LOT OF MONEY.

So, be considerate when you complaint. It can be the provider fault, it can be the hosting service fault, it can be intermediary network provider fault that you have "slow" stream of movies or bad ping playing WoW etc.

Sorry for your time,
Just an IT guy.

Well said bro. Some people do not understand this and keep on complaining. Maintaining huge networks is not a easy job, this based on my experience in networking jobs.

Webe is still a new telco, give them some time. They are trying their best to improve the service quality. Maybe by end of this year it will improve to much more better.

What does this graph tell? Their whole network only capable of 110Mbps?  laugh.gif

110Mbps is the theoretical speed that can be achieved from a telco base station. The overall Webe network is capable up to terabytes of speed.

anyone planning to get sublines, get it quick before you are stucked

I think this has something to do with the rebranding of Webe to Unifi. Then they(Unifi) will be launching new plans and there is a rumour that a prepaid service will also be introduced soon.
