same here... shooting RAW will fill my 16gb SD card really fast LOL
i mostly shoot JPEG. the only time i'll shoot RAW is when Im under multiple changing light sources. It'll mess up the white balance so shooting RAW gives me more flexibility to correct in post. |

I shoot in RAW and my SD card is only 8GB-- it's more than enough for every short trip I went. In fact, I control image quantity and save shutter count too.

QUOTE(kkk8787 @ Apr 4 2017, 09:35 PM) Do most of u shoot in raw. I realise shooting in raw in 24MP , 16gb sd card really cannot take too many photos Depends on what u shoot? I guess it is almost necessary to shoot in RAW for landscape because u want all the dynamic range to capture. If shoot sports or panning shot, u can shoot faster in JPG. |

Depends on how you shoot, 16GB can actually last quite many 24MP RAW files over 200 shots. If you like to spam shots any amount of SD card also not enough ......... .ok la maybe 64GB.

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Apr 4 2017, 09:44 PM) If you don't plan on doing a lot of editing, jpeg is fine already Eh, it's not about "plan on doing edit" but rather RAW file gives you headroom to adjust if the outcome isn't as good as what's expected. Even JPG can edit but once the variables go far off (eg exposure too far off, WB bad) then RAW has the advantage. Even for commercial work - my photos are straight out of camera usable, that doesn't mean I use JPG. I still use RAW so I have room to enhance in a less destructive way. |

First off shoot both raw and jpeg, doesnt matter what subject you shoot, just keep them all (get 32Gb or 64Gb if u out of space). Use some of the free raw editor software and play with the adjustment or photoshop if u want a bit more advance. Then look at youtube and see how some some turn mundane picture into more wow shots.
After that then you can decide whether the extra space on raw is worth. Take note if u using sony kit lens, always enable lens profile in raw editor (if available) cause that lens has issue on the wide end if not corrected. |

having 2x 64gb sdxc cards.. using it for YEARS! storage was never a concern..
shoots both in jpeg and raw depending on occasion. On average a 10 day trip i shoot around 2k images only. also usually i set the size to somewhere around 10mp/12mp.. despite my gear could do 16mp/24mp |
