Got it. A reply from the WoW forums.

QUOTE

While ingame on the Realm you are having issues with please alt+tab out of the game.

Go to Start
Run
type in cmd
Type in netstat -a ( need the space between the t and - )
Press enter

Now look for the line that has ":3724 ESTABLISHED" in it.
That will have your Realms IP address.

Write that number down EXACTLY.

Now in the command window type in tracert xxx.xx.xxx.xx >C:\tracert.txt The x's being the number you got from netstat.

An example:
(Dalaran)

tracert 206.17.111.94 >C:\tracert.txt

This will create a text file of your traceroute on your C Drive. It may take 2 or 3 minutes in some cases.
Also they recommended to use this program : http://www.d3tr.com/

sky.live, it looks ok. getting below 300 ms is an achievement in itself. most of us are usually playing in 300-600 ms range.

Although this week is not a good indication. Streamyx is doing some "maintenance" activities until March 16 in various areas and everyone is literally feeling it.

Also, WoW servers are doing extremely weird things that there's usual lag spikes causing ~10-20 sec lag spikes, during which u can't talk or move around. Saw a notice that something like 13 servers went down for a few hours yesterday.

Ah well.

8 out of 10? Should be lower lah. Why? No real fix. tongue.gif

sky.live, the response time isn't the main issue. the problem lies with the timeouts, i.e. in-game lag spikes.

yeah WoW servers are acting up recently, time to time spiking to 3-4k ms ping from 300-500ms and then back to normal...

not only that, theres this wierd unable to rez bug/server issue going on, where by the healer rez the player and the player gets no rez accept/decline msg.

also ive been crashing a lot recently, and many players are getting *sudden* disconnections.

really screwing up crucial runs such as black morass where a wipe = restart whole run. and yeah, it isnt just lagmyx, blizz server ftl.

try the free 10-day trial period. that will give u a rough indication. just run to stormwin (oceanic server) during 2-9 pm our time and see if you can survive. those are peak hours.

hmm... come to think about it, there may be a slight errr..hitch to it.

The requirements for both the Original (Azeroth) and BC (Outlands) versions of the game is different i.e. Original doesn't need a good PC like the BC one.

And I think there's some level cap with the trial version but I'm not sure. You'll have to read the WoW website for that. They do give out the CD key for free there. Also, all WoW players have 5 trial keys to give to friends every month. Want one? happy.gif If you do end up subscribing, I'll end up with one month free gametime. Hee hee!

You can get the trial key from friends as well.
