Not sure if this topic should be under Telco Talk or networking.

Last week DiGi upgraded service with VoLTE, on handphone it showed the icon.
I have Huawei E5186 router that supports VoLTE, I search in internet but can't find info about setting up VoLTE on router, not even sure if it is automatically setup or what.

Connect normal phone to the RJ11 port the dial tone is engaged dial tone not working.
If set to 3G or Auto then can make call, but it is not VoLTE just normal call, and at LTE when make call it will drop to 3G and come back to LTE after the call, with this the ping and speed is haywire.

Expert please advise icon_question.gif

Found below statement at Digi Broadband website: Not sure whether this is what causing it?

Can I make VoIP calls (Eg. WhatsApp calls) using my Broadband subscription?

No, VoIP calls are not allowed on Broadband plans, but we do have Internet Top Ups that allow you to make VoIP calls (More information under Internet Top Up section).

Digi does have VoLTE support but only limited to Huawei Mate 9 and iPhone 5S and later iPhone. Eventhough you are able to activate VoLTE on this modem, moat likely it wouldn't work.

If it's through a router, then it's not VoLTE. Maybe what you're looking for is Voice over Wi-Fi.

Only U Mobile has that at the moment AFAIK.

Seem like not much people know about this router. Had you check with your seller?

Huawei modem/router commonly each model has more than one Sub model. And there are also rebrand or aka customized for certain telco.

Last thing i can advise you is try download Huawei Hilnik app, see is there any VoLTE setup through app.

Just now i asked seller, he said Huawei never officially stated that E5186 supports VoLTE confused.gif
In the internet all articles about this router says VoLTE is supported, but noone tested it.
The router i received is with Huawei logo not other Telco logo.

To do VoLTE call use plug in normal phone and make call. make sure network is set to "4G only" otherwise it will do normal voice call.

This infinite plan does not support torrent, can use VPN to overcome but speed slow ler...

haha... set auto it will drop to 3G to make call so the speed jadi giler. After making call it will come back to 4G again. Supposed to just call like that i think... in internet there is no single guide on how to do VoLTE call so i assume it is just simple call using telephone.

No... that it the way it is supposed to work, the router will handle the VoLTE and provide telephone assess to wired and wired-dect handsets. Seems like in this world at the moment only 1 router by Netgear is able to do that, if this Huawei E5186 is proven not supporting VoLTE. I search and can't find any official statement from Huawei saying support VoLTE, only from seller website and noone has actually tested it work.

RM865 through Lelong. I bought 3 of them running 3 Infinite 150 at 3 locations. Earlier I thought of want to save money and bought 3pcs TP-Link MR200 and ended up like sh*t performance and poor wireless connectivity, have to throw aside wasting $$$.

I hate Huawei for extremely little setting options and never have any official firmware update, however they have the best 3g/4g performance. Under same environment, E5186 max speed is 25% higher than MR200 and ping is more stable, MR200 has spikes (even with LAN). For wireless, MR200 from time to time has high ping between device and router itself, tested in place without neighbourhood wireless interference.

VoWIFI is Voice Over WiFi. But now he has a modem which actually should work with VoLTE to make calls. VoWIFI is when you call out to other number using Wi-Fi connection but this is LTE (4G) so it is VoLTE.

From below, I am assuming the telephone need to be HD compatible for VoLTE. But remain unconfirmed it is correct answer to you.

I have tested 3G with PBX system, but not this model but an older Huawei router.
Basically if 3G with E5186 it will definitely work on PBX. VoLTE yet to try, but E5186 seems not supporting this feature.

unfortunately modem currently are not support the VoLTE feature by Digi.

if u try on a VoLTE support phone, u using 4G internet connection. When u receive or do out going call, your data wont drop become 3G. it will remain as 4G.

Activate volte for sim that in E5186. Too bad it didn't support, tried to put in 4G only, can't make call.

Need to put into auto, once make a call it will drop to 3G.

Dunno why they advertise as volte supported (in the spec). Maybe need to use special phone. Also activate volte on my phone, surprisingly it support note 5. But digi didn't listed it as supported phone.

Btw all tested with digi i150.

1. Your Huawei E5186 is what version 61a or 22a?
2. So your E5186 can make normal call when set to auto?
3. After finish call will back to 4G or not?
4. What about receiving call?
