It really is. If you ask me S7E vs P10 Plus, I will still choose S7E. Unless one is really careless and is afraid of the edge display no reason to choose P10 plus really.

The price drop makes S7 and S7 Edge very good value proposition. You no longer need to buy Oneplus 3T or Huawei type of phones to save money.

P10 to me looks pretty much like P9. After 1 year they didn't improve anything on the design and bezels look huge for 2017 phone. I totally skip this phone, in fact I like the P9 better.

This year any screen that doesn't look like S8 and G6 will look out of date.

S7 gave HDR in auto mode it seems, S8 seems to move it back to normal, which is good thing.

S7 doesn't use HDR all the time, it is set on HDR auto.

S7 series is often plague by over saturation/over sharpening issue. While it is arguable for making the photo look warm and vivid, it can be said that it does not produce the photo that is close to the nature/original. Some people likes it and some doesn't.

If S8 can have better algorithm in fine tuning the post processing towards nature color, it will be the king of photo phone this year.

S8 main camera problem is it will always be smudged with fingerprints, and you will need to carry a new must have phone accessory for S8, a microfiber cloth!

So not necessarily it will have better photos in real life when you can't have a clear photo.

If the lens coated with oleophobic coating might reduce the amount of smudges caused by misplacing finger on scanner.

True, but even S7 also prone to smudges, quite evident in the lowyat camera comparison one of the S7 lens flare is due to smudges in the night scene with car headlights :-

Confirm every S8 owner will wipe its camera before taking pictures, if you see someone wiping their phone camera often.. You will know he or she is an S8 owner from far lol

Other than that, it is a nice phone.

go and survey all samsung phone users.  you will be surprised that they dont even use those features.  or even they dont even know what extra features samsung has, LOL.

im not saying samsung is bad or what.

im just saying the price for samsung flagship is just marketing gimmick.    of so many samsung phone users around the world.  how many user do actually use their functions or features.

yes their price point correspond to those extra functions and features no other phone makers has.  however, do we really need all these in a flagship phone?

for me  i will get the best phone that suits me best.  and will not waste extra cash for that extra features that i wont be using.

my point is, alot of samsung phone users are just like apple fans.  they follow what people use and just buy the phone instead of actually considering the purpose of the phone.

A phone is no longer just to make phone calls. If that is the case nobody will want to upgrade phones since 20 years ago. To some it is a business tool, fashion statement, photography device, music device, travelling companion, a toy and others a communication device, or a combination of one or more of the above.

Nobody buys a phone just for basic purpose of calling and texting anymore since a phone is so much more than that. That being said, a lot of people are caught up in upgrading phones for the sake of having the latest and greatest, this is fine also if you can afford it. However for those who can't afford and forgo their kidneys that's worrying la.

when i online youtube see clear coat
it like a screen protector protect entire phone?
*
It wraps around the whole phone, but it is not tempered glass, so it's for scratches only. Don't expect any protection for drops.

Comparably though, the overall body dimensions are smaller than S7Edge though. However the screen dimensions are bigger. Also interesting to note that it has a thicker body, but way smaller battery  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

S8 is S7 replacement, while s8+ is S7 Edge replacement. You should compare S7 Edge with S8+
