QUOTE(Radec @ Apr 5 2017, 11:41 AM) They already sold their laptop division years ago though. XZ Premium have flagship specs, but the design is getting old now and doesn't go near the S8 in that regard. That 960fps video though.. yeah... the point is they have the capabilities... just that... they dont know how to make it into a good phone... haha.... luckily they selling parts by parts to other manufacturers is doing good... their camera sensors is quite commonly used by other brands smartphones.... haha

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ Apr 5 2017, 11:47 AM) S8 no more using Sony sensor liao Sony makes money not through its mobile division, but from components like camera sensors, entertainment business, and Playstation business likewise, Samsung also generates revenue by manufacturing chips and screens for iPhone, memory cards, memory, and so on edit: Apple has stopped using Samsung as their chipmaker for upcoming ipongs, but the screen will source from Samsung's AMOLED panels S8 not using IMX333?

QUOTE(~C.W.S~ @ Apr 5 2017, 11:42 AM) You guys do realize recent galaxy series since s6 the camera used sony camera sensor rite? A lot of other phone manufacturers uses Sony sensors too . Sony only provide the hardware. It is the manufacturer software tweaking it that makes the difference. It is well established fact even Sony internal camera software falls behind many other phone manufacturers using their sensors. My last Sony Z5 premium was a disappointment on the camera performance. In fact one of experienced Z5 user here said one need some skills to make good use of the camera. For me I am just a simple point n shoot guy and so Z5P doesn't make it for me.

The mobile phone division aren't making too much revenue for them to justify if they should invest heavily instead just focus their good job in coming out good hardware.

QUOTE(~C.W.S~ @ Apr 5 2017, 11:42 AM) You guys do realize recent galaxy series since s6 the camera used sony camera sensor rite? Most people aware. Sony need company like Apple and Samsung or even Chinese company to demonstrate their sensor capabilities. Why? Sony themselves in typical ignorant fashion unable to unleash full capabilities of their sensor. Proof? Observed all their Z and X series phone. Aside from still image,, their steadyshot for video pretty good though.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Apr 5 2017, 11:17 AM) I hate EMUI. Gave up on it after using it for less than a day. Exactly that. Though, I'm still using it, ha ha... Mediapad M3... great hardware, but EMUI..... sigh....

Camera sensor and mobile separate. Sony mobile division are welcome to buy camera module from in house, just like the rest of the world. They work in silo.

To me it's the worst among all. Z3 series was plague by touchscreen issue. Can say 100% phone would kena once akin to Volkswagen DSG gearbox. lol

QUOTE(sharpman @ Apr 5 2017, 06:52 AM) Wow i was expecting S8 to be around 3599 and S8+ close to 4k Now that we have estimated price that S8+ around 3599 I might get S8+ instead of S8.. I am in a dilemma now same here...not sure to splurge extra 500 for a slight bigger battery and longer screen
