The S7E has been holding its prices for quites some time. No thanks to the failure of Note 7. Its time for it to go down as the S8 is around the corner.

as a consumer i don't pay much attention to the sales figures

rather it is what kind of things i can get by paying ~rm3100 and no more

so with this budget, S8 and XZs comes into picture

which in this point, S8 wins hands down

currently using Z5P which launched at rm3099 (same launch RRP as S6 dual edge in 2015) , the problem with Sony now is the XZs seems like a rip off version of flagship due to its exorbitant pricing, while using leftover chips from 2016.

Yes I do agree Sony is lack behind on software R&D development. The mobile phone division aren't making too much revenue for them to justify if they should invest heavily instead just focus their good job in coming out good hardware.

i go for S8+...
because S8 also not small, can't fit comfortable in jeans too,
so since it not gonna fit into jeans then might as well just go big S8+ !

i know alot ppl saying more power efficient processor, power efficient OLED, bla.. bla.. bla..
but i'm still abit worry on the battery life of S8,
because imagine u got a great great great smartphone, but u always need to carry a power bank,
what a shame is that..
and due to worry of draining battery, u can't use your phone much, put the gorgeous display very dim, turn off all the smart function..
what a shame again..

I don't feel Samsung camera ever excessive noise reduction. Just always over sharpening and wrong dynamic range sometimes.

But in S8 it seems perfect and no such issue.

It is overly change the dynamic range which make the photo no shadow feel and too flat. Even though it is clear everywhere but it is wrong. This is big issue on S7 Edge and previous camera setting on Samsung phone.

Megapixel had nothing to do with the camera photo output.

S8 output finally much better correct setting like others company setting especially it is more like quality from Google pixel phone.

S7 series is often plague by over saturation/over sharpening issue. While it is arguable for making the photo look warm and vivid, it can be said that it does not produce the photo that is close to the nature/original. Some people likes it and some doesn't.

If S8 can have better algorithm in fine tuning the post processing towards nature color, it will be the king of photo phone this year.

True, but even S7 also prone to smudges, quite evident in the lowyat camera comparison one of the S7 lens flare is due to smudges in the night scene with car headlights  :-

Confirm every S8 owner will wipe its camera before taking pictures, if you see someone wiping their phone camera often.. You will know he or she is an S8 owner from far lol

Other than that, it is a nice phone.

a Singaporean friend said usually in Singapore, ppl prefer to get their phones via telco bundle/ plans...

i wonder if that is why pre-order goodies not that attractive?

Look at how great of the S8+, might not so worry about the battery boom anymore with this result.

they can re-sell the phone at same price with official samsung retailer,
and ppl still will buy it because that unit come with 2 years warranty & 1 year free screen repair.
then they can sell the Samsung casing, power bank, wireless charger, cable seperately, these can earn they at least RM200 d..

if buy on 5Apr at samsung retailer, the S8 is 1 year standard warranty only,
if screen crack have to pay at least 1.3k to repair..
