If your friend is only thinking of using Shield and Renew, then he needs to rethink his healing tactics. At the same time, only keeping 2 people up? Sounds like he's not confident in his healing capabilities at all to keep the entire team up. Usually means that he knows his limitations but from what you're telling me now, he doesn't know how to gear up to play his class well at all.

And having to always fear, that's being too cowardly but that's just me. Fear is a panic button and mobs will come back to whack him (frankly, I think he deserves it). Unless ppl are ready to pick up the mob, there's no point in him having to fear. Methinks he fear of dying himself and not the team.

When I started BC instances, I stopped looking for priests and went looking for Pally Healers. Better chances of survival since the outland bosses and instance trash mobs hit harder.

As for the DPS not being enough, it's probably coz the other players don't have good gear or just not good skills. Example : a Lvl50 shammy dualwielding 2 maces is keeping up on Damage Meters against a Lvl65 Feral Druid in BC outfit. So it's entirely possible to have good DPS churnout provided you get good players and good gear

Being a priest is easy. Try being a Feral Druid and doing healing. Now that's a challenge.

The road to recovery is knowing that one is no longer in denial. That priest sounds extremely hard-headed.

then again, L2P is not as easy as it sounds. just team with SL with a lvl70 fire mage that is carrying a +52 str staff and using her carrot on a stick trinklet. adoi.

i knowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... very jealous lah. regretted not picking up enchanting for my priest lah. even saw a pally with +1K healing and never ran out of mana until at bosses.

in game lah gal. Vylis is the name. haven't logged for the past 2 days though.

There is a very fine line between improvising and blaming. It's whether the other player is open enough for suggestions or not.

I don't see the OP blaming anyone. He's wanting to know whether his reasoning was sound or not. He hasn't been nasty at this point and hasn't blame anyone at all.

As for the rest of us, ok, so we are harsh but it's even harsher in-game and on the WoW forums.

i once saw a holy pally bubbling himself just before a fight. he said that he didn't want to whacked.

i called him chicken mail wearer. then he stop doing it and focus on healing properly.

gofey : put it this way, we are harsh when it comes to seeking opinions and even giving them. for action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. i guess take it with a pinch of salt but at the same time, look for ways to improve gameplay.

since you did mention that you only have a pally that has not react Outlands yet, it might be difficult to understand what is happening out there. i used to be like u when it comes to giving comments about instancing and even raiding. until i really got into it and realized that i literally had to change the entire way i was gaming.

you might find that you're healing ok now but as you hit lvl50 onwards, you have to switch from high stats gear (e.g. int, spr) to +heals and MPS (mana per second). instances in outland are endurance fights when DPS are not strong enough. there's also the added likelihood that below-min-level of instances will pull all aggro, even if they didn't land the first punch.

btw, have you hit gnomeregon? that used to be a painful instance that everyone remembers and hated. another one is uldaman. next was lyceum in BRD, and i only completed it once. stratholme UD and scholomance were painful too. UBRS, argh.

but when you hit outlands, it is hell for a first timer. the dragon in ramparts gave everyone nitemares for days. the crab in slave pens were causing mass graves. trash mobs in shadow labs is still taking everyone's heads.

sure is interesting though. i love tough instances. gives you a good feeling once you're able to down them.
