well it is for safety purpose not u will use until that level or not... if all the safety factor calculated according to the spec needed not including the safety factor i think ur life is in danger every minute you use anything... lift or escalator has a huge safety foctor, and of course other things also... smile.gif

PS3 is the one... if not u can try out Hankook V12 smile.gif

hi guys...m a honda city 2008 vtec owner. i need to change my tyres. current is the stock tyres. of course no tyres are perfect all rounder. my basic need would be a quieter drive and good handling when taking corners. i occasionally drives fast and take corners sharply. i read through the previous postings and i realised a softer tyre gives u quieter ride but won't last long and the handling is not good?

hopefully sifus out there can help. i urgently need to change it asap.
also...know any good deal tyre shops in kl or pj?

really appreciate your help.

Added on May 4, 2010, 9:28 pmcon't... the honda service centre told me if i want a quieter ride, he ask me to change to bridgestone.

btw, my budget is rm180 max.

sime tires prone to bulging and uneven wear.

your's using 13 inch or 14 inch? 14 inch for budget choice take goodyear ducaro. for premium choice take PP2 (now PS3?)

vtec using 15 inch rite? 180 budget won't get you good tires. pay a bit more for better tires for safety and durability. in the long run, these 2 factors outweigh the money saved from buying cheap tires.

er... higher performance tire will not last long la.. quiet tire in comfort category still last longer than them...
if you are on 185/55 R15 u can try Michelin PS3 which meet ur requirement of good handling and also quiet... but they are around RM200++ and paired with ur Honda suspension it will not be comfort... if you don mind the performance then Falken 912 suits u, should be around ur budget and it is comfort with a lil lil performance... but it is on 195/55 R15 and 195/50 R15 only... no 185/55 R15... smile.gif
skip BS and GY those entry performance cos it is expensive and not worth it... if you can stand a bit of humming Hankook V12 195/55 R15 might suits u, it is around RM200 only...

cheers

+1... nice tire around that price is only Falken 912 but only available at 195/55 R15 and 195/50 R15...
then the next Hankook V12 195/55 R15 is around RM200 those tires suits him... smile.gif

ur 1 tonne++ monster is hold by the 4 tires, and the area of the tire touching the ground is only at the size of 3~4 sheet of A4 paper... so imagine u r 100kg and u run 40km/h stop with a slipper and a sport shoe... smile.gif

same level all 3 tires is in the UHP (Ultra High Performance) level... review by Opel by using Corsa fitted with Hankook V12 Evo (215/45 R17) and also Michelin PE2 (PP2 Twin bro), S Drive, T1R and some others similar priced tires Hankook is ranks No2 in overall performance smile.gif

yes, mine Vios NCP42R (Old Gen) using 195/55 R15 for years already... smile.gif no problem
yes temporary Falken 912 (Comfort Performance) and Hankook V12 (UHP) is giving us the bang of buck... the value vs performance is way better than some local tires also... but remember not to take Falken 522 (Bad tire) and Hankook V8RS (Old gen of V12) as some still sell it and push it to customer... smile.gif

my meaning of humming is; coz V12 evo thread design is more aggressive and directional type... as directional type of thread tends to produce more noise than Asymmetric and Symmetric thread design, but V12 can be consider as quiet if compare with others directional tires smile.gif so for no ppl complaint about it's noise but not sure about 50% used as some ppl say still ok but some say it started to roar a lil...
if you are driving above 80~100km/h all the time i recommend u to take V12 as it has better grip than Falken 912 smile.gif
of course u have other choice but those UHP's side wall is more harder than V12, paired with ur Honda CT absorber it will give you harsher ride quality...

sorry bro... u might need to ask ppl using CT as i'm not using it not sure smile.gif
find a lil softer spring and absorber if you want more comfort from your car and find stiffer set if you wanna have more handling smile.gif

stock tyre for hc vtec is goodyear, right?

Actually goodyear is soft tyre and lousy quality. I wonder why honda cars so expensive only give goodyear but toyota cheaper also give bridgestone.

I personally like bridgestone cause it is affordable and good quality. Maybe I will try falken and hankook next.

from my personal experience, continental tyre only matter when it comes to csc3 uhp class and above. entry level continental csc series tend to
develop a bulging spot. of course csc1 / csc2 will be quieter than v12(due to it's directional tread) but overall performance, it still lose out to v12.
i'll pick the v12 anytime over the csc1 /csc2.
if you prefer a quieter tyre, falken912 is fine. perhaps, you should take a look at the new ps3!

abubin@
it depend on... of course the entry level gy like ducaro and nct5 sux, the same cannot be said on their uhp tyre. gy eagle f1 / gs3 / assy is a few example of exceptionally fine tyre from gy. albeit, at the higher price.
