hi guyz,

i need ur hlp as usual..
if i switch on my pc n adsl modem, then even though i dont make connection to streamyx, the ethernet light of my modem is blinking... i mean my comuputer doesnt automatically connect to streamyx and i m only able to use internet after i make manual connection.. so before i make connection and use internet explorer o whateva, the three lights of modem never blinked until i make connection... then now without connection and then modemz etherent light is blinking if pc n modem is just turned on and not connected. i m not xpert but i feel like someonez hacking my pc... currentlly using avg and update and run scan many times but didnt find any virus.. need hlp here...

ps. my modem perfectly ok.... no problem.. itz not blinking if connected to another pc and itz only blinking if connected to my pc... i used adsl modem for almost two years and it neva blinked until recently...

try out some of these tools:

http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/IP_Sniffer/ipsniffer.html
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Wireshark/Wireshark.html
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Sniphere/sniphere.html

and
active port:
http://www.download.com/3000-2085-10062969.html

From the developer: "Active Ports - easy to use tool for Windows NT/2000/XP that enables you to monitor all open TCP/IP and UDP ports on the local computer. Active Ports maps ports to the owning application so you can watch which process has opened which port. It also displays a local and remote IP address for each connection and allows you to terminate the owning process. Active Ports can help you to detect trojans and other malicious programs."

good luck
=)

it is common if your computer is trying to send data or receiving data to the modem even if it is not connection. the blinking light shows that there is activity going on. net necessary got hacked.just my opinion, might be wrong, any other ppl want to spread their opinion?

It could be a dialer OR a Trojan, if not a Hacker OR it might be pure false positive. wink.gif

To reconfirm, go get an Online Scan from Kaspersky. If the Report shows no harm, then it might be other reasons. Cheers!

EDIT: TYPO.
