Which pathways should a law student take to be easier getting into big law firms in Malaysia after graduated?

Hello, I actually have several questions regarding law degree & the career paths, I'll try my best to explain myself & if you're in the law field, your advice will be a huge help!

1. Currently starting the first semester in UKT in BAC. I actually searched up many online forums and information regarding the big legal firms in Malaysia. Some ppl commented that big law firms mostly recruit students graduated from UK and BPTC, while others commented that the big law firms are also aware of the difficulty of CLP. What are your perspectives on this?

2. I was planning to do UOL but studying UKT saves me one academic year as there was no January intake of UOL in BAC. The next UOL intake would be in September. I would go for UKT only if I got scholarships (I was left behind but I study very hard now), or else I would switch to UOL in Year 2. My question is whether UKT or UOL first-class honour is more valuable in the eyes of the prestigious law firms in recent years?

3. Also, could you please share some working/ studying experience in the legal profession? Your sharing will definitely help out a lot!

If you're experienced in law field/ graduated/ currently studying/ a lawyer/ legal practitioner, your advice would benefit me a lot! Thanks in advance.

I just called MCKL which everyone is saying much cheaper. but it cost Rm40k for 3 subject as well. it's the same!!???

A Level is not affordable in KL region anymore.

Personally I came from MCKL, the scholarships requirements and the environment isn’t worth that much.

Better if can afford sunway better go off to Sunway.

MCKL, about RM40K
Sunway RM51K
Taylor RM53K
Only this unheard school, Icons RM29K

TARUMT is still an option, otherwise BAC.

But latest for May/June 2026 for Sunway College KL


AS with Lab Practicals - RM 750
AS/A2 without Labs Practicals - RM 800

wow Alevel alone already 50k. 🤦print money from tree ka?

Technically in Sunway KL it is RM 65K+, haven't calculate cost of livings + rentals

Maybe if you go other states like Penang or Johor it is still signicantly cheaper.

Personally I can't recommend SPM leavers to join A-Levels, unless their parents pocket deep or they gotten the SPM 9A+ and above scholarships.

why suddenly hike so much?

Dunno maybe, saw demand spike up?
More and more Chinese community moved to middle income group and try to squeeze more from the community.

Otherwise, too many 9A+/9A* SPM/IGCSE students?


Then they need to force those who have partial scholarships to fork out to fund these 9A+/9A* ++ SPM/IGCSE students?

STPM also not favourable to the local Chinese Community, if parents can let their children go to Private.
More will lompat to Foundation.

Unless Sunway need higher number tuition fees scholarships to do Tax write offs? For Scholarship holders

Also, Sunway Square Mall will be eventually Sunway's University Expansion?
Not sure College will move there also.
