I intend to learn to play eletric guitar. But i don't know anything about it. So do i go for eletric guitar lessons or i start by buying books and practise myself? Is there any good electric guitar tutors around SS14/15 SuBang Jaya. And how much does it cost?

My brother use to learn electric guitar. He had 2 tutors...1 teach him how to do tricks with the guitar and the amp and the other teach him how to play notes. Which is the right way?

Thanks.

i think its better for you to take lessons, at least got somebody to guide you. i started off learning by myself then when i took lessons i had to correct a lot of bad habits.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Yes, best advice is to get lessons from a professional... Preferably from a music..... just to get you started.

The biggest mistake anyone can make "My friend can teach me".
I have a piano teacher friend who is really good at it..... and I wouldn't mind learning piano.... but because we're friends..... It's impossible to learn anything....
Why? Because we'll start talking, start yaking..... and won't be able to learn anything. I also don't want to teach her guitar...... same reason.

But don't worry. After you get the basics, then decide if you want to stick to that teacher and see how.....maybe learn scales? progressions? alot to do later on.

Oh.... you should definitely get proper lessons to get you acquainted to the electrical guitar style of playing.

Yes.... there are ALOT of similarity... but there IS also the proper technique on electric guitar which is different from Classical......
