Recently I noticed there are a lot of job openings at DIGI. and being the curious cat, applied for a position there.
Here is the sharing of my experience, which i hope will help those planning to go for one.
Dept: Corporate Strategy
1. Why are there so many job openings, is mainly due to the fact that they are undergoing a big restructuring. - this isn't a good sign.
2. Digi is a big company. With a high no of staffs. They are challenged with a cost cutting drive and having challenges with REVENUE. - second negative sign.
3. Telenor is dumping them. - a good move for Telenor and also another sign.

The interview was broken into 3 parts.
Normal Chat about the dept - Here they would explain what they do in the dept. Which i found to be very vague.
Q&A - where they question your knowledge on the telco industry. They ask very very detailed questions which include ways to boost revenue etc. and why why why why why. For every statement you make, they ask WHY. Which to some point was abit ridiculous, because it became like an attack rather than a real interview process. Overall, the interviewer became very defensive when i mentioned that the market is stagnant and already at it's matured stage.

Case Study - a case study you have to do on the spot. Which included the calculation of Trigonometry & Algebra. They said i could use fictional figures, but when i used fictional figures, they said it was wrong and I will need to be accurate. Which they then ridiculed me and laughed at the answer in front of the candidate.

I wonder how Trigonometry & Algebra is applicable in the role of Corporate Strategy.

Overall experience: BAD[U].
The interviewers, 1 Chinese Guy (Alex Foo) and 2 more which were non local. Alex was very unprofessional and an INFURIATING INTERVIEWER. he was very tough, confrontational & aggressive. One other was abit more composed and tried his best to be professional, the other kept quiet as he was from a different dept.

Overall, do you think it is a good place to be in?

I can't comment on the other depts but if you are interested in this dept, I would say, don't really bother trying unless you are so desperate. The management in there sees a need to belittle you in order to feel superior or to justify the reason for their existence. You would not want to be working in a team like that.
- there is no stability at this moment
- Constant reorg and restructure to save cost
- Unprofessional management
- You need to be overqualified for the role.

Congrats on passing nonetheless!! But yes, an interview tells you alot about the company. Dont forget it is also your chance to interview the interviewer! It's your right to know what sort of company you will be working for and why you would want to work for them.

yes, you are quite right... my interview was conducted by majority of that particular race.. and i too heard it is dominated by alot of them. They come from their own country because they can't get jobs there as it is too competitive, so they invade our shores.
