Developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games in collaboration with SEGA of America, Sonic Mania will only release digitally by Summer 2017.
Initially planned to be released in Spring 2017, during SXSW, Sega made a number of Sonic-related announcements, including a short delay from Spring to Summer. Sega also revealed that the Flying Battery Zone, which originally appeared back in Sonic & Knuckles, will be an area in the upcoming Sonic Mania.
Several local gaming stores are already taking pre-orders for the Sonic Mania Collector's edition (around RM339).

Played a few levels, and unless there are versions of Sonic games I've missed, this feels fresh and new while staying 2D. The interspersed bonus levels breaks up the fast paced platforming levels and there's even a level with you battling Eggman/Robotnik in a Puyo-Puyo match!!? Brilliant!
Must get more giant rings for that sweet sweet bonus levels!
Best USD19.99 spent, worth every dingle cent! Bought mine off Amazon as a download, applied the redeem code on the Switch eShop.

Hi, those of you that got sonic mania on Switch... I would like to know is it possible to play it 2p with joycon split up? Mainly for the story mode just like the good old sonic 2 and 3 ways?
I try but the joycons are recognize as 1 player only... Unlike mario cart.

Can. I'm using pro controller though. I'll try and see whether 2 joycons is ok - should be ok logically.
