As per topic, is it ok if i use connectors like below to power my 4 fans, or is there a difference if i use a single power head (molex/sata) for each fan ... Just wandering if i use the 4 in 1 converter, will it put a strain on the psu. Using-psu -- thermaltake evo 650w

No problem. Connect more than 4 fans I also tried before.

Since you use molex socket to 3 pin socket, it will go max speed instead of letting you adjust speed in BIOS or software.

Ic... so the extra wire is to control the speed.... which i can use if i hv a controller.... thanks dude, appreciate it.

QUOTE(wanna be hi-tech @ Mar 23 2017, 12:02 AM) to control via software, you have to connect the fans to motherboard, that's why they are there for. some header only can read RPM but cant control, except cpu fan header. Higher end mobo mostly can control fans via all the header.

Using the cable (1st picture) all fans working fine. Y cable meaning joining all fans to the cpu fan pins on the mobo ? Can u post a pic of this y cable .... thanks.

I second this. Best not to use more than 2 fans if you intend to connect directly to mobo fan header.
