dat's y la i'm asking this question. want to knw the differences also.
btw, i tot u post the comparison results of the maggi cup pics?
show me sikit laa~
Seriously the maggi cup is working. I used my

damm rich friend's 30D speedlite580ex and maggi cup shoot indoor photos. At that time the enviroment is very dark, must use flash, but direct flash spoil the photos, cause the subject face look like frighten and look shininng if he/she have a oily face..
Used the maggi cup, flash bounce on the wall and bounce to the subject. the background and the face of the subject look very soft and comfortable.. ah...
i have photo that using the speedlite and maggi cup and this photo taken in behind a door and a quite dark room.

SB400 is a more basic type of flash where SB600 is a more complicated type. the question will be, do you need it to be a very advance type of flash?
see it like a mobile phone... do you need 3G phone? or your usage of the phone is limited to phone call and sms only? don't even mms... then why bother getting a 3G, pda type of phone?
that is what the SB400 does. it basically flash. thats all... nothing much. the power output it lower than the higher model and the function is limited... it just flash... if that is what you are looking for, then it is a flash for u. and for those who said SB400 is nothing... i think it is a very stupid statement to make.
Erm thanks for explain. So it meant that sb600 and sb400 is just the different power of that flash, either it is strong or weak. that's all? if shoooting some celebration party in a house at night, sb400 should work perfectly?
