Anyone know any cheapest postpaid plan to keep the number alive. Currently I have one number that I can't afford to lose. I don't need internet plan. Pay per used for call/SMS also fine. No need free limited call/SMS. Currently that number under my Celcom First Gold. Have to pay RM30++ per month basically for very lite use. Thanks you for the help.

EDIT: Correction. I asked for postpaid not prepaid as per my original post.

Since you're currently with Celcom and assuming that you have no coverage issues then below are Celcom mvnos that provide long extended validity. The list provided are what you can get as-of-today :

1. Altel
- free mnp with rm5 credit (totally free: fill up form, copy of ic, RM0)
- first rm50 topup will get free 1 year validity,
- subsequently RM28 per year
- cannot stack. must renew annually.

2. OneXOX
- RM10 for sim card
- RM10 topup within 24 hours to get 28 months validity
- RM25 subsequently per year
- After getting 28 months validity, you can also stack up validity extension at any time by subscribing to more extended validity (currently unlimited)

3. Tunetalk
- free mnp
- RM28 for 1 year validity
- cannot stack. must renew annually.

Finally .....

4. TRON
- this is actually digi mvno
- RM10 topup gives 365 days validity
- cannot stack. maximum 365 days validity at any one time.

From the listed options above, OneXOX is the clear choice for keeping a number dormant.

Allow me to clear up your doubt.

1. You CANNOT convert your Celcom First Gold postpaid to Celcom Xpax prepaid. This is true.

2. You CAN convert your Celcom First Gold postpaid to any non-Celcom prepaid. This is also true.

That OneXOX is reliable or not. I saw the website also cincai one. lol
What happen if the company closing down. What happen to the subscriber. This is just a general question. Does not to mention any provider. Are we protected under certain law?

There are two sides to a coin. Apparently, the website is being maintained by the marketing people on adhoc. That's the story I got from dealers. The telco side however is taken care of by a dedicated full time onexox team. Customer support is available 24x7 at 12273 for free.

There are actually two (2) precedents regarding to what happens to subscribers when mvnos went out-of-bussiness. The first was salamfone (maxis mvno) and during closing down, half of the subs were moved to xox and half were retained by maxis. The second was clixster (initially digi mvno then became umobile mvno) back in Sept 2015 where subscribers were notified and given 2 (or was it 3) months to port out before closing down.

After what happened to salamfone, I believed SKMM have already took steps to protect subscribers from mvnos going bust. AFAIK, no celcom mvnos have gone bust yet. The first malaysia mvno is merchantrade (also a celcom mvno) and even with dwindling subscriber base it is still is being supported by celcom.

If you want to know more about onexox then I recommend that you find a dealer near you who can provide before-sales + after-sales service. Some chit-chat with onexox dealer gives you more info than the cincai website.

for MNP i believe is min topup rm50 and get rm53 talktime.

http://www.tron.com.my/tron-lite-sim/switch-to-tron/

https://litesim.tron.com.my/portin/create

it will be mail to your home address..

rm10 is the min topup reload you can get... each time you reload the expire date will extend 365 days from the date of topup.

you can choose to reload anytime and the last date of reload is the current expire date.

Tron is riding on Digi 3G network.

In case you think Tron will be closed shop, i believe Digi will take over.
