Maybe skip the Typhoon/Rafale MRCA altogether. Get the Kuwaiti Hornets in good numbers

And when the Su30 and FA-18 need to be replaced, then go directly to fifth generation.

By that time, the F-35 will be cheaper and there will be copies/variant (although not as good) like the KAI or TAI or even the…. HAL version (or maybe not!!) Pak fa

Or if trumps allows it,

F22 Raptors 😝😝

No, not taking weed, just dreaming now!

One squadron on raptors, and another pakfa.

adnan & kifv got a basic spaced armour protection so the main blast is away from the vehicle main body
so prolly at most it can inflict some degree of injuries but not fatal..
*
Am I under the wrong impression that eventually our 8x8 gempita will replace adnan and kifv?

Actually wheel cannot replaced track. US army M1 will be accompanied by 2 Bradley IFV. Singapore Army Leapord2 with Bionix. Wheel will be more a stand a lone system as speed plays a part.

Well, Wheeled =/= Tracked, so ideally another tracked APC chassis will be bought... but obviously this will only pass if we have oodles of cash which we don't doh.gif
Frankly I wouldn't be too unhappy to see us continue mass producing AV8
*
Cool,got it thanks!

But why aren't you happy with av8?

And what's our replacement plan or options for adnan? They're ancient

German army needs to remove WW2-era names: defense minister

The names of German military barracks honoring a handful of World War Two officers should changed to show that the country's post-war armed forces have made a clean break from their Nazi past, Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday.

Having come in for criticism herself after accusing the Bundeswehr armed forces of "weak leadership" amid a national debate over whether there are right-wing extremists in the military, von der Leyen told Bild am Sonntag newspaper the barracks should no longer be named after Nazi-era officers.

"The Bundeswehr has to send signals both internally and externally that it is not rooted in the tradition of the Wehrmacht," she said, referring to the World War Two-era name for the German army. The Bundeswehr was created in 1955.

"It needs to confidently put more of an emphasis on its own 60-year history. Why not rename those barracks? In light of the recent developments, it's time for a new discussion on that."

The Bundeswehr removed the names of many Wehrmacht soldiers, who were seen by and large as honorable soldiers not tied to any war crimes, during reform carried out in the 1980s and 1990s. Yet about a half dozen barracks remain named after Nazi-era figures, the most prominent of which is General Erwin Rommel, who killed himself in 1944 after a failed attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler.

"We've got to tackle the issue of renaming barracks," von der Leyen said, adding that such a move should be undertaken as part of efforts to modernize the armed forces.

It's good that they acknowledges the shit that happen,

It's awesome that they took responsibility and rectify

But for crying out loud,

It's over and changing name and all this trivial shit is kinda irrelevant,

Instead of bringing it up from time to time, why not just leave it alone, they have already rob the German of their patriotism and national pride,

Enough is enough

US special forces helping Philippines troops to end city siege
user posted image

MANILA: U.S. special forces are helping the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to end a siege of the southern town of Marawi by militants allied to Islamic State, a U.S. embassy spokesperson in Manila told Reuters.

Until now there had been no confirmation that U.S. forces were assisting in the battle for Marawi City, which is in its third week.
Their involvement comes after months of strain between the two allies stoked by Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte's hostility towards Washington and his pledges to throw out U.S. troops who have long provided training and assistance.

"At the request of the government of the Philippines, U.S. special operations forces are assisting the AFP with ongoing operations in Marawi that helps AFP commanders on the ground in their fight against Maute and ASG militants," the spokesperson said. "For security reasons, we are not able to discuss specific technical details of U.S. support for ongoing AFP operations."
