considering that any replacement will only be announced by 2020 (apparently), it will take about 5 years between contract signing and full delivery and another 2,3 years for the planes to reach desired level of readiness and capability and that's assuming nothing goes wrong. We need something to fill the gap during that time.

also, i doubt gomen will go full upgrade on the migs. still, good if we can get all of the remaining birds to fly because nowadays less than 10 is actually still in the sky
