Russia, Indonesia Finalize Contract on Su-35 Fighter Deliveries

Rostec Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy Department Victor Kladov said that the contract between Rostec and Indonesia on the delivery of Su-35 fighters is agreed on.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's Rostec state corporation has finalized a contract with Indonesia on the delivery of Su-35 fighters, Rostec Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy Department Victor Kladov said Tuesday.

"The contract is agreed on," Kladov told reporters.

Russia and Indonesia launched negotiations over the draft Su-35 contract in March, a senior Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) told Sputnik at the time.

The Su-35 fighter was developed by Russia's Sukhoi Company aircraft manufacturer between 2003 and 2008. It was first introduced to a foreign audience at the 2013 Paris Air Show as a "4++ generation" heavily-upgraded derivative of the Su-27 multirole fighter.

New pictures from the fighting between Philippine government forces and guerrillas aligned with the Islamic State show armored vehicles with ad hoc wood armor. The images of the Philippine Army Cadillac Gage V-150 armored car, circulated on Twitter, show it covered with discarded ammunition crates and salvaged wood. The wooden armor is supposed to protect it from man-portable anti-tank weapons— another image showed a RPG-2 rocket-propelled anti-tank grenade launcher captured from ISIS troops.

PHL military gets 3 brand-new 155-mm howitzers, 9 more en route

MANILA, June 8 -- Three of the 12 155-mm. towed howitzers acquired by the Department of National Defense for the Army and Marines, have arrived and the other nine are in transit, the department’s public affairs office chief, Arsenio Andolong, has said.

The three Elbit-Soltam M-71 155mm/Towed 39CAL howitzers were delivered late April and were formally accepted by the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), whose gunners are currently familiarizing themselves with the weaponry, Andolong said in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Wednesday.

The nine howitzers will undergo technical inspection once they arrive, he said, adding that three of these will be given to the PMC and six to the Army Artillery Regiment.

The new howitzers were supplied by the Israeli defense company, Elbit Systems Land and C41.

The contract was originally for PHP438.62 million and includes 240 155-mm. high explosive shells and integrated logistic support. Elbit won by submitting a bid of PHP410.84 million. (PFN/PNA)

The Russian Federation offered helicopters, naval equipment and small arms to the Philippines

Moscow. 24 May. INTERFAX.RU - Russia held a presentation for the Philippines of helicopters, naval equipment and small arms, Interfax was told on Wednesday by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia.

"It's premature to talk about deliveries of specific types of weapons and military equipment, we are waiting for official appeals from the Philippine side," said Maria Vorobyeva, the official representative of the Federal Arbitration Service of Russia.

She said that the Philippine side held presentations of the Kalashnikov concern, Mi-17V-5, Mi-171Sh, Mi-35 helicopters, high-speed boats, coast guard systems, and other military products.

The FSMTC said that it was a matter of military equipment and weapons, which would help the Philippines to increase the effectiveness of the fight against terrorism and piracy.

"We are discussing the issue of the formation of the legal framework for Russian-Philippine military-technical cooperation," Vorobyova said.

"The Russian Federation, in response to the interest of the leadership of the Republic of the Philippines in the development of military-technical cooperation, expresses its readiness for further discussion of the parameters of mutually beneficial partnership relations in this area," the FSMTC representative said.
