FYI, Benq has already separated from Acer. It's an independent entity now. Anyway, I have no comments about it's quality at the moment. Like I said before, Benq still need time to settle down, independently, in the notebook market.

Wildcatz, if you have like about RM10k and above to spend then go for the Tecras. M10 is about RM7k.
My opinion: Get the Fujitsu S6120. Is the best you can hope for for in the price range. |

LOL. I have 1 Fujitsu with Centrino 1.6 is priced at RM10,888. I doubt that you'll spend that kind of money on a laptop.
Connectivity: 1x parallel 3x USB 2.0 1x IEEE1394 FireWire 1x video port 1x s-video port 1x irda (infrared) 1x sd-slot 1x modem port 1x lan port Edit: The battery calibration feature in this model can automatically calibrate your battery fully so that you can fully utilise it's performance of 6 hours standby. Without proper calibration (discharge & recharge), you can only have about 3-4 hours standby even though you're using Centrino technology laptop. Erm, actually, the company I'm working in (Notebooks Domain) is under mtcs group.
There's 2 configurations for N620c. 1) Pentium M 1.4/256/14.1" XGA/40G/DVD/WinXPP RM6,399 2) Pentium M 1.5/512/14.1" SXGA/60G/DVD+CDRW/WinXPP RM7,799 It's not available in stock. But still available thru back-to-back order. If you order, it should take less than a week to get it from HP. Presario X1031 is going to be replace with X1075 this week. It's arriving. The only difference is that the new one is Pentium M 1.4. It's kinda tough to compare N620c with Presario X1075 coz both processing power is the same. One is with wide screen and one is with normal screen. Presario is with XP Home Edition while the Evo is on XP Professional Edition. |

Evo nx7000 has the same design as Presario X1000 series. It's wide screen too. If you're considering nx7000 and don't really care about the XP Pro or home differences, then you should take X1075 (new model - Centrino 1.4) at RM5,488.
nx7000 is RM5,999 with DVD-ROM only. The good thing is that this baby is with XP Pro. Warranty is still 1 year. If you wanna get nx7000, I can offer you the same retail price but with additional 256MB rams plus a usb mini optical mouse for notebook. Contact me if you're interested. |

As far as I know, X1075 won't have any other difference from X1031, except the processor upgrade to 1.4GHz. I'll confirm the L2 cache details and let you know of any update.
*Update: I've checked the system BIOS of X1032 model in my office (Same architecture as X1031 and X1075). I think Compaq made some mistake on their brochure. The system BIOS showed that this machine does have 1024MB L2 cache and 64MB L1 cache. This post has been edited by netboy: Sep 23 2003, 04:35 PM |

hehe.. the compaq sales girl also refer to the brochure one. No point calling them when they're referring to the mistaken brochure.
You can visit my showroom and take a look yourself on the system bios. BTW, if you're still wondering, my company - Notebooks Domain Sdn. Bhd. is listed as an Authorised Compaq Kiosk Centre in Malaysia. |

If you're waiting for notebook prices to drop, I'm afraid that you have to wait until at least February to April next year for any drop.

If you need the notebook now then buy it now. If you only need it later, then buy later. If you don't need it at all, then don't buy. Simple.

QUOTE(xwteoh @ Oct 16 2003, 10:59 PM) btw need some recommad here. i want to buy a laptop now but not sure which brand should i choose. the primary use is to do some 3d work. normally use autocad,3d studio , some adobe drawing software and etc. pls giv some recommand which brand , model and price. thank http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=6333 It seems that you need a good 3d graphic card for your notebook. Go for a notebook with dedicated graphic memory. Radeon 9000 or 9200 or nVidia Ti4200 2Go is definetely your target. |

Pentium 4 3.04GHz is more powerful but Pentium-M 1.7GHz is more power saving.
