QUOTE(imoogi99 @ Mar 16 2017, 09:26 PM) What is the difference between Teakwood Solid timber and Engineered Teakwood flooring? Thanks. Hi imoogi99, Teakwood Solid Timber is the traditional solid timber flooring installed and required grinding and coating on site. Engineered Teakwood flooring is pre-finished product with teakwood veneer on surface and hardwood base, where the grinding and coating is done during production in factory. ( No grinding required on site, convenient for installation in furnished house) Engineered Teakwood flooring boards are finished with 7 layer uv coating, and the coating is more evenly applied as compared to traditional Solid Timber which has minimum 3 layer of coating. However, Engineered Timber flooring can not be refinished as much times as compared to traditional solid timber flooring, depending on the thickness of surface timber veneer. QUOTE(imoogi99 @ Mar 18 2017, 12:33 PM) Thank you for the explanation....understand it. What abt the cost between the two? Which will be cheaper? Hi imoogi99, You're welcome. Considering the same species and same size, overall the engineered timber floor will be slightly cheaper for supply and install than solid timber floor as we saved up the labour cost for grinding, but increased cost in material. If you plan to buy the material only and DIY, the material price is higher than solid timber. This post has been edited by timdecor: Mar 18 2017, 01:47 PM
