those deity/spirit/god/ghost have been practising for ... maybe 10/20 years, 100 years or even thousand of years .....
what make u think they will sit in the statue and wait for your 3 incense n bless u n jaga your house ???
dont u think is funny ?? ...u see, the problem is human ego .... thing dont works that way ...
if the deity/spirit/god/ghost really got super power, why they need to be your slave ??
just wake up n face reality .... nobody can help u, only u can help yourself ....
u want to have good wealth, pls work harder or save more ....
u want good health, pls take care of your body....
u want your children to be good, pls give them good education n set good example for them ....
im not against taoism or any others people belief ....
just remember every favor u ask from them, someday u will still need to repay them....
just my 2 cent view...

actually when u chant all buddhism mantra or sutra, it will attract ghost, even u chant in the morning or afternoon ....
but the ghost will not harm u except if he is your creditor, who r looking for u to take revenge .....
cos when u chant mantra/sutra, actually u r bleesing them, they will feel good like less suffering for them...
not like what u see from tv, when u chant, the ghost will melt/evaporate or run away....
btw even u dont chant, ghost are everywhere, just that u dont know only ....

actually the water is like boiling but is not hot ....
normally people use the water to cure "illness" ...

in buddhism these people go to asura realm ....

they got the merit for fortune but without morality ....

in our world, in our time, only got one buddha, he is sakyamuni buddha, the next buddha is maitreya buddha...

all this written in buddhist sutra... we are now in dharma ending period, many people will claim this claim that, he is living buddha ...

there are 2 type of sentient being ....1. emotional sentient being 2. non-emotional sentient being ....
only emotional sentient being can reincarnate to different realm ...
non-emotional sentient being dont reincarnate .....
deswai if u eat rice, u are not killing it, u just change the form of it, so u can eat it ...
but of course, farmer will spray insecticide to kill insect that destroy the rice....
so even u eat rice, there will be still some bad karmic force ...

deswai during buddha time, buddha and his disciple all beg for food....few reason why buddha beg for food ...
1. can bring down the karma force into the lowest level ...
2. can eliminate your ego n set up a good example to the people ....
3. villager can do charity....just imagine u donate to a buddha/arhat ... your merit is unlimited..
so, it not impossible to survive without killing others animal for food .....but nowadays people dont choose this way

and another method is by meditation, some can meditate for days, even for months without water n food ....

I dont understand...u say u got few encounters with maitreya...

this is not going to happen cos we live in a dualistic world ....
when there is good people, then sure got bad people ....
so there won't be all good or all bad ....
btw gautama becum buddha bcos of meditation and found enlightenment ....

how u know maitreya ?.. and not amitabha or jade emperor ?? ..or yim low wong or lak tong kung ?
do u know what is written in sutra about the heavenly being ??
actually heavenly being dont like to come down to human realm.....except there is "something" to do in human world ...
heavenly being got 5 characteristic ...1. their body is very bright 2. they got fragrance smell, so actually they dont bath
3. they dont shit 4. no need to sleep 5. when they are hungry, they just "ping", then food will be served but they just smell it, they dont eat like us
they see human as dirty, smelly, low class n like zombie ...... cos we shit, we sweat, chasing for material thing n eat meat.....
we kill animal, put ajinomoto, put salt, sugar or whatever, to eat a dead animal .....
so if u r them, do u wanna come here ??
so mostly when people talk about deity, actually is ghost realm deity not heavenly being ...

those deva characteristic is written in the sutra ...

-Authentic Living Buddhas ..... how to verify ?? buddha enlightment is on the spiritual side, no form n shape, cannot be verify
-these Living Buddhas re-incarnated or the Spiritual Beings Teaching....buddhism is to get out of samsara, why a buddha need to reincarnated ??

actually this is tibetan form of buddhism, which they "skip" certain part of reincarnation, which their memory still intact ....
have u heard of the tibetan book of dead ?? ... this book is all about the reincarnation process ....
actually those tibetan high monk study n practice certain type of meditation, to skip some process of reincarnation ....
so when born in the next life, their power still intact n can keep on practice .....eg 17th karmapa, u can google...
but no one can verify this ....

basically there is nothing to argue, cos no one can verify this ...believe what u believe ...

so how u can verify a living buddha ??

actually 一贯道 is a cloned type of buddhism + taoism ...
their so called sutra actually copy from buddhist sutra n change the sutra content to become their sutra ...
like shakyamuni buddha n maitreya buddha suddenly become their "lei lou mou" messenger that send to earth .....
to save people n bring them to "lei tian" n happy forever ....
then all this jigong that like to drink wine n eat dog meat actually come from them la ....
and they also got triple gem n eat only vege like mahayana buddhism ....

Where the fragrant come from ?

if u chant sutra like diamond sutra or heart sutra normally there is a strong n sharp fragrance smell ....

but if u chant compassion dharani, then it should not be any fragrance smell ....

cos 1 of the function of this dharani is to get rid of those external force that interrupt your practice like devil or heaven being ...

so where your fragrance smell comes from ?

even your wife just started to chant the heart sutra still there wont be any fragrance smell, as long as she chant the compassion dharani....
the fragrance smell should come from u or your nephew "action" ...
maybe u 2 got pray to certain ghost or deity, maybe the same or different deity ....
u know why in buddhism very seldom talk about ghost n heavenly being ??
cos both also got good n bad guy, not all heavenly being is the good guy as most people think ...
and same for the ghost, not all ghost are the bad guy ....
we just normal layman even got fragrance smell, we dont know is from ghost or heavenly being ....
heavenly being got supernatural power 神通 but ghost also got 鬼通.....
so dont be too happy n there is no free lunch in this world .....even in the 6 realm including heavenly realm

i think i explain b4 this in the buddhism tered ......
sutra is for us to learn Buddhism by planting seed in our consciousness .....deswai when u chant there will be "others" will listen ...
mantra or dharani is for us to "use" .... eg, 1 of the function of da bei zhou is to get rid of external force that disturb our practice ...
if u want to benefit others then u can just transfer merit to those being or your ancestor/parent/creditor la ...no need to sit there n listen one ....
btw the whole da bei zhou is buddha name inside, this practice is for inner self practice not for outside material world ....
but i know many fatt si say u chant da bei zhou can fulfilled your wish n blan blah blah .....
remember, spiritual matter will never got any effect on the material thing ...
but da bei zhou is good for health n can cure illness ...
i think last time u say u got chant heart sutra right ? if can, pls chant 108x everyday .....
chanting heart sutra or diamond sutra u can get immeasurable merit bcos prajna parimita is the mother of all buddha ....
