I'm a new local live gamer and it seems my timing was a bit in the offing... I've scoured other forums and it turns out that microsoft has implemented a new credit card verification system that requires the address you provide must match the billing address of your credit card. The problem is, now i need to enter my local kl adress yet i have to enter a singaporean post code since xbox live isn't official here in malaysia yet, however this gives me a verification error, and hence, i'm unable to subscribe for a 12 month gold account. Currently, i'm on a 1 month free trial and the days are going by fast. Please correct me if i am wrong in my observations, and i'd really appreciate it if someone could give me a step by step rundown of how they've managed to setup their local subscriptions. If it helps, i'm using a CIMB visa card. Thanks in advance for replying this noob-ish post.
what was the error specifically? if it said "Could not authenticate etc etc" when u want to submit your cred card info, then I know what's the most probable cause.
U mentioned ur using the CIMB card right? Do u have a virtual mastercard/visa? With CIMB, you cannot use your physical credit card number to go for online subscriptions/purchases. You must use a virtual mastercard number, and u need to apply for it.
I had the same problem before, and now with my virtual card, no problems so far. I gave my exact address, only with a singapore zipcode and it registered successfully. Even tried buying MS points with no problems.
FYI, the virtual master card has RM10 annual fee and u can get the form at any CIMB branch. Alternatively you can call 03-62047788 (CIMB card service centre).
After you send in the form (it would be better if you call the centre and ask if you could fax it to them, much faster. Just say its urgent), it will take up to one week for them to send your virtual cc number via post to your billing address.
Hope this helps!
