Let me humbly explain about the basics of Buddhism.

Basically there are 3 main things a human should do:
1. Do not do bad things
2. Do only good things
3. Purify your mind through meditation.

Here's the 5 precepts(sila) that you should follow (Do not do bad things):
1. Do not kill.
2. Do not steal.
3. Do not commit adultery.
4. Do not lie.
5. Do not consume alcoholic drinks.
*
The 5 Precepts r vows observed by non-monastic, lay practitioners called Upasaka for male, Upisaka for female

The realms of existence
user posted image

Practitioners of Chan n Dzogchen would be able to experience higher level realms of existence. Theravada practitioners, pls enlighten me your practise.

Humans have the capacity n ability to experience all realms. Hence, human life is precious, this is the best place to practise dharma

All these places we have been in our infinite past, except 23-27.

My Theravada friends r not into meditation, cant sit still, mind wandering wildly. They prefer other practises like dana n offerings. Hence, i dont get much understanding n insight from Theravada.

Gone thru a few youtube videos, i think they r almost the same

I heard that the Buddha gave different teachings to different groups of people at various stages of his life, which led to the three main vehicles of Buddhism. Is this true?

It is a way of life not a religion...Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) said he is not a god, just he is a man...

The Buddha is not a god or deity. He explained what is “god” in the heavens. His teachings is to go BEYOND gods n deities.

He taught how to venerate Buddhas and make offerings. The rituals are all religion
