Depending on your budget-lah. I spent RM520 per pax excluding air ticket for 6D5N in Taiwan. Total inc of tickets was RM1300.

Stayed in budget HOSTEL (RM30/nite/pax), less on souvenirs & eat hawker food (~RM15/pax/day). Spent mostly on transportation & entrance fee...

1) Easycard (Taiwan Touch & Go) - RM60/pax (for 6D5N) - MRT, bus & train
2) Taroko train ticket - RM80/pax return.
3) Taroko day taxi cum personal driver - RM220 or RM55/pax
4) Taipei 101 entrance RM42/pax. Museum - RM18/pax

Overall inclusive of air tickets, I spent ~RM5000 (I brought in RM2000, flight tickets - RM3,120, & used up 100%) ..i.e RM1300/pax inc of ticket & RM520/pax exc air ticket. one of my lowest budget traveling....

  gee already explained so many times & just posted..U do your calculation & it's up to you to change your RM to US$ 1st & thereafter to NT$ in Taipei OR as you wish you can even change your RM to NT$ direct at the airport there & getting even worst ever rate!! If you did that you will be few saying KL food much cheaper than Taipei bcos of u changing at ~ RM12. ++ at the airport!! worst than the worst money changer in whole malaysia...But US$ is very stable here in M'sia & in Taiwan..thuse all money changers dun really impose a hefty high commission compare to NT$ in Malaysia & RM in Taipei.

You can hitch hiking crossing thru Hehuan Shan. There probably buses/taxi going to Hehuan Shan but from there to Taroko no transport except hitch hiking any passing by lorries. This is what I heard & googling.

Otherwise, just take the train from Taichung all the way to Hualien via Taipei.

the girl in the taiwan tourism office....keep telling me not to take the tickets coz those theme parks are located far from taipei
At first i opted the yehliu seaworld park, coz i know that place is at the northern part, still in taipei county
but she seem like very kiamsiap...keep on insisting me to take the MRT card
i dun feel like bargaining with her after a long and hot trip to their office...and she's making excuses like that place is not easy accessible and sorts, and commenting my trip is short, so best not to take the ticket

the mrt card is something like our TnG card, preloaded with NT50 credit
but for the theme park ticket, i'm not sure
maybe u can call them for enquiry

hi guys, m heading to taiwan this coming october.
In my schedule, i will be going to Ulay hot spring as well. Heard my fren said it is far away from Taipei, so need to overnight in Ulay if u wish to travel there.

Is this true? coz i schedule to Ulay after visiting CKS memorial, then will go to Bitan and Kee Lung for awhile after Ulay.

Btw, i'm staying in gocityinn in taipei, heading to ulai will take how long?
