Hey there, have been reading through the posts.

Am currently planning a trip to Taiwan during mid-July (it's going to be super hot). Have only bought the tickets. The trip is for 7D 6N rclxms.gif

Firstly, any recommendations on reasonable hotels / hostel?
Secondly, I would appreciate assistance from fellow forum whom have been to Taiwan to share your itinerary with me? icon_question.gif

It's a rather daunting task to be planning a trip for a group of 5 people for the first time rclxub.gif

Thanks in advance!~ thumbup.gif

Yea silly me...tons of info on the first page rclxms.gif

But now i'm thinking since its a week long holiday. Is it better to focus on a place only, or would there be enough time to visit most of the places around taiwan. Any opinion or feedback to help me to help me to begin my planning? laugh.gif

7D6N. You probably having xtra days that you can explore Kaoshiung/Taichung and another day to Taroko

For me even only 5d4N, I able to do Taroko already including other areas surrounding Taipei such as Jiufen/Yehliu/Dansui & Taipei itself..I only missed 2 areas in Taipei i.e Beitoui, YangMingshan & Wulai area.

If 7D6N, you probably can cover those areas I missed above if you decided not going to Kaoshiong/Taichong

Meaning to say with 7 days i can go around whole of taiwan? will it be too pack / rushing?

As I havent been there before, Do u take Taipei as the base and then from there u move around? is the distance between the surrounding areas near or are they far that it would be wiser to stay at a different hotel at different places.

Am totally lost now, haha looking at the map i'm not sure how to plan. In general, how would the recommended movement be? meaning start from which city and then move on to where and where?? hmm.gif

Yes me using Taipei as a base. Everyday will be back to Taipei ~ 8-9pm..still got time having 2 nites at Xi Mend Ding, 1 nite at Wufengpu & 1 nite at Shihlin Food market..haha

For whole Taiwan, probably 8-9 days..but 7days enough for you to goto either Kaoshiung or Taichung or combi of Kaoshoung & Alisan liao. + day trip to Taroko. Surrounding Taipei, most attractions are within walking distance from MRT even Danghui market (not the Lover bruidge) also within walking distance from the MRT station. Yehliu & Jiufen, you need to take either bus or train and Keelung as transit point between both

Movement depending on you. To juelien, the speed train service (2hrs via Taroko Express) need advance booking otherwise no ticket. Normalconventional train (Same pricing, most of the time also full and if you insist just buy the "Standby" ticket ion the spot..Well, most of the time you will be standing haha...Normal train ~ 3.5hrs journey to hualien

Added on April 19, 2011, 9:30 pmTaroko express from Taipei main station. Option of choosing Taroko express (2hrs) or normal slow train ~ 3.5-4hrs. Please book in advance.

Oh well..i guess so...just wanna know estimation of those whom have been there...so that i wouldn;t overchange the currency...
I realised that charging through credit card I receive a better rate compared to the money changer...coz i just booked the hotel and paid exchange rate of (10.628) compared to the selling rate of wawasan money changer at (10.67)

By the way i'm going during July...which i estimate at that time would be even hotter than msia doh.gif

I'm definitely gonna bring all the lycra type of material clothings haha coz sweating is a definite rclxub.gif

I'm sure taiwanese (girls) will wear lesser clothings then too brows.gif
