just wanna check with u guys, i wanted to travel to Taiwan somewhere in October. I am going alone. Izzit better if i go there by my self or follow a tour group. I am not so much into shopping/temple stuff. i wanna try their food, weather and clubbing experience as i heard their clubbing is very fun. I have not been to Taiwan b4 and got 0 knowledge about it. The only info i got is from this thread and those locations that u guys mention, haven even heard about it as i dun watch Taiwan dramas. izzit advisable to follow tour group or go there by my self. My budget is around RM4.5k for a 4day 3 night trip. if got extra, mayb i spend more on a better air ticket instead of taking budget airline. any advise?

Forget about your friends, just pack up and go alone. It's so easy to travel around Taiwan.
Public transport is efficient and convenient. People are friendly and it's very safe.
I heard that the penalty for robbery is death, don't know how far it's true.
4N 3N might be a bit short though.  Wait till end of the year, it's still hot season at this time.
RM4K is a very generous budget indeed.

are they open during CNY? i planning to go next year after CNY (5-8th day of CNY). I heard from my friends that all shops will be close. is that true?

Booked my flight with AA next year 20-23 June. How's the weather in Taiwan around June? Any nice place to stay there? I am going alone, prefer to stay in those place that is convenient, budget rm500 for 3 days(room price). Bare in mind I am going alone, so I have to take the whole room alone and got nobody to share. I plan to bring rm2k there for the expenditures including room. Will be there only 3 nights, so most probably will leisure around Taipei only

those backpacker hostel, izzit good? bcoz i am a bit fussy type, since i have the budget, when i go for holiday, i wanted to get the best out of the holiday and i wanted to stay comfortably. I am not those shopping freak, but i am more into food. I wanted to bring RM2k for 3 1/2 days. so with RM700 a day, i think i can spend around RM200-300 for hotel since i don't think we need RM300 for food rite? mayb will buy some souvenir for friends and also buy a bit of cloths there, but since u all mention that Taiwan living standard is similar to KL, i think RM2k to spend 3 1/2 days is a lot and i think i can afford hotel? But of course if the hostel is comfortable with wifi and stuff, i got no issue staying in Hostel, but must have own bathroom and at least its safe lo.

icic, do we need to book in advance for those motel? since its still have 11 months to go, should i book the motel around april or may? actually i am working in SG, is SGD accepted in Taiwan for a good rate instead of changing to USD 1st? of course, i will buy $10k TWD as pocket money and the others i think i will just use CC for it. but just incase, i might keep around $200 SGD in my wallet incase they dont accept CC or having issue with my SG CC in Taiwan (My friend have issue with his CC when he was in SG last time). frankly speaking, i have not been to other country other than SG, this is the 1st time, so a bit nervous. And those motel u mention, can we book online?. 1 more issue is my mandarin sux, even i am in SG, i am speaking 100% english here. I am a cantonese person, so my mandarin really sounds very cacat and a lot direct translation from cantonese. Can they speak a little english there if they can't understand my cacat mandarin?
