Hi all..
just wanan ask ur opinion. How do you'll transfer from aiport to hotel?
i am going by own. so got no one to fetch us.
going in a group of 5. Isit conveninet to go by bus? cos we are carrying big bags. If taxi, i think need 2 rite?
*
Depends where you stay. If XMD or TMS, can take the public bus. Cheap and no worries with big bags, can put in their luggage compartment and they give you a tag for security purposes. NT125 per way and if buy both ways NT230 for King Bus. The MRT from airport straight to TMS only ready in 2012.

The van for about 5 ppl I asked last time was NT2000 per way. Expensive sia.

If you not stay in XMD or TMS area and can tahan, you can take the bus to TMS, then there are lift for you to go down to the station to take MRT to the station nearest to the hotel you booked.

But hor, lately rainy weather, you must also take this into consideration ya. When I was there, drizzling mostly but we jalan in the drizzle to get to our hotel via the underground mall. So not soaking wet la coz part of the way got shelter.

Enjoy your trip.

If not mistaken, the moneychanger I saw open until like 7pm but I didn't jalan the whole airport to check out other moneychangers when I was there.

Places u can use credit card hor, charge it to credit card coz much cheaper ler the rate and don't choose the RM option if there is coz the bank might not recognise it. For CIMB, what happened to me was I opted the RM amount coz I can be sure of the amount and the rate was stated there, which was cheaper. Mana tau hor, the stupid Twn bank changed the RM to NTD at dunno what rate which is higher to charge into my CC and CIMB then took that converted NTD and re-convert into RM. Double whammy!!! vmad.gif

I'm trying to book the express train tickets from Taipei to Hualien. However, from the schedule on the website, it shows:

自強  1082  山  彰化 至 花蓮  17:02  19:12  2小時10分  逢週日行駛。太魯閣號,不發售無座票。
自強  1069  --  樹林 至 花蓮  17:40  19:46  2小時6分  逢週五至日行駛。太魯閣號,不發售無座票。

Did you guys board the train to Hualien from Taipei in Taipei Main Terminal or other train stations (彰化 and 樹林)? From the schedule above, it's just the boarding location that is different?
*
That's the origin point of that train number. So long at the website you choose Taipei, they will quote you the correct fare from Taipei to Hualien. Cannot board at any point, coz ticket will print as from Taipei and not Shulin for 1069 coz you chose Taipei. The fare is different from different stations.

Finally booked hotel smile.gif

For the Hualien , Taroko area , roughly how much is  the transport fee and entrance?
*
Tarako no need entrance fee one.

The only expense (excluding food and shopping, if any) is your tour which is either those day tour group by bus (approx NT700 to NT750/pax) or your hired cab, which can range from NT2,200 to NT3,500 depending on where you found the driver/places you want to go.

I stayed all days in Taipei and no problem with that coz travelling in Taiwan is so convenient. I lazy to pack and unpack coz got old folks and toddler in my group of 6. The express train from Taipei to Hualien is NTD794 return for adult when I went in early April 2010.

Don't think you can fit the dolphin tour and tarako in one day for 28th June.
