That's really quite pricey. But the hashrate is nice. Btw, you can choose what crypto to mine right? Not necessarily bitcoin and ether?

I am not quite sure, but you may have to reinstall an appropriate OS, probably Windows, with the right drivers and mining software, to support altcoin mining.

default 21000 gas limit is sufficient.

20Gwei gas price also higher than 46% of miners accepting 4Gwei.

it's polo being sluggish, be patient.

tweak gas price at bottom right corner of MEW

You know how to calculate gas price?

to know how much in eth or $ that gas would cost

Eh no need la - I think you guys have covered way more than enough. Unless you want to see controversial ramblings about fiat and me talking about blockchain, which isn't appropriate on the front page. laugh.gif

What I am currently working now is to evaluate the statement that "cryptocurrencies are a Ponzi scheme". I was able to produce a mathematical representation of a Ponzi scheme on paper, but I am still working on modeling a supply-demand model for cryptocurrencies, which is a lot harder as there are too many abstract variables (e.g. how do we model the supply curve of cryptos, as it is a constant however market supply is fluid). There are some clear cut attributes differentiating the two in writing (mainly, what makes a Ponzi scheme unsustainable, being outflow > inflow, which the outflow amount (could be a constant, or a set of constants) but withdrawal rate over time growing exponentially as more investors come in), so hopefully I will have something to post again soon. tongue.gif

Interesting. It's quite relevant actually. I did post something in the guide on whether cryptocurrencies are in a bubble ready to burst, similar to whether cryptocurrencies are a Ponzi scheme ready to burst! The reason I'm posting that is to bring across the message that cryptocurrencies are not guaranteed tickets to riches, that one still have to be careful and cautious when investing in cryptos. One can get lost in the euphoric environment of huge gains and ridiculous profits.

Tried withdrawing from Poloniex and I found it has to go through a few stages. Why would one say it is not secure?

i) log-in needs 2FA
ii) withdrawal also needs 2FA
iii) need to log-in email to confirm

How insecure is this? The hacker has to get 2FA codes twice and to be able to log-in the email to withdraw.

Hackers have many ways to hack a supposedly secure website. If they can find a weakness, they can even bypass all those security measures that you mentioned. Of course, I'm not a hacker but that's how I understand it.

Finally, Dash says it doesn't want to be left behind. laugh.gif

That's scary, especially with the increasing value of all coins

take 21000 gas limit for basic value transfer without any contract function.

say you're willing to pay 21Gwei to miners to include your transaction quicker

21000 x 0.000000021 = 0.000441 ETH in fees ($0.15) and gets confirmed within 40 secs.

if you're cheapskate, you can pay 4Gwei instead

21000 x 0.000000004 = 0.000084 ETH in fees ($0.028) and gets confirmed within 2~3 minutes

I think xbitasia has people to play with script which auto changes the buy/ask price with big lots...

I tried to "eat" the ask price but not able to get it and the price was immediately changed to higher price. It seems that they are playing tricks

Why are you selling this outdated ASIC Bitcoin miner?

Are you not making money out of it?

Unless yours is the Lite version, power consumption is horrendous.

Some of the whales are collective groups, who are going to use crazy amount of gas - in a way, this is economical because they are sending a lot of ETH and they will get priority processing because of the amount of gas used.

the contract will only begin processing funds after the starting date, the ETH gets rejected and the fee gets spent.

Should I HODL onto BAT or should I cut loss, what would you do? There isn't much news about it hence it dips like the rest since everyone is hopping into ETH

Comments are appreciated wink.gif

I was in the same position as you. I was holding and it keeps bleeding. I cut loss and invested to Ether right before the recent jump.

Mid to long term BAT should rise, but probably ETH would rise more. My 2 cents.
