It depends, but as Monny said, Cruisers are good if you like the more modern heavy sounds.

If you looking for a classic strat sound with twang then get Area 51's or Blue Velvet for a more bluesy sound.

If you want classic tones with humbucking function i recommend HS-2/3

I used to own Cruisers, then changed them to HS-3's.

Duncan Quarter Pounders are cool if you after that Deep Purple Blackmore Tone.

I think you should look for a pup that gives you a classic tone cause thats the beauty of a strat =D

Or if you want a SRV-like tone, you can try the Fender Texas Specials. biggrin.gif

with 2 buckers i don't think you will ever get the strat tone.

But here's an idea. You can try cramming in 2 P-90s and have an LP-strat crossbreed kind of thing. I think they would fit and i'm quite interested to know if the strat electronics wiring would work with P-90s. Then again....i'm the wrong person to ask when it comes to PUs tongue.gif

S.Ds for a fender Feel??
Are you SURE?
I thought fender pickups gives you the fender feel.... smile.gif
I hear S.Ds are good for the strat tone....

I would Stick to a s-s-h config and stay true to the strat tone. Maybe 2 original fender single coil pups...and then maybe a Seymour duncan 59' humbucker in the bridge.
If you can get it coil tapped... even better!

or you could get a fender replacement pickguard for a S - S - S setup,

that way you definately have the classic fender tone, the S.D and Fender pups give the best traditional fender tones, DiMarzio is nto bad but not much choices, check out the Area pups. . . bloody twangy and clean with no hum. . .

For fender just dotn get the lace sensors. . . they're not that good. . . had a friend who used to have em. . sold em off cause it just doesnt sound all that great. . .

most single coils can't coil tap tho. . unless you look for those humbucking single coils. . so yea. .

hey dude...

you interested in a Dimarzio Custom Wound pickup taken from a Musicman Axis ?

tone is warmy warmy creamy creamy between mid-low output , specially for boosting ..(its quiet when its boosted)

its not only hard to find in the 2nd hand market , but you are paying at a 2nd hand price smile.gif

no wonder i didnt see it.

ok, looks like im gonna settle for stewmac's golden age pickups.
havent found a single bad comment on them, and most seem to think they're similar to gibson '57 classics which is what i want, and at a way way cheaper price.
