i cant recommend anything under rm1000 (apart from used models). typically the photo quality you get isn't significantly that a smartphone. later you end up shooting from your phone anyway since it's easier to share

unless you need something specific (long zoom range, water/shock resistance...), maybe a flagship smartphone is a better choice.
