What are the benefits of registering your console and is it a must?

ah yes, and i pray that day never comes... but if it ever does *touches wood*, can i register my console just before i make the trip down to singapore, or am i required to register it now, closer to the original date of purchase?

i registered my console and i get 3 Xboxlive games for free..
i think january 2007 they were having promotion.. they gave me frogger, joust and robotron.. |
