If you are talking about UWC, I only traded it after being introduced to it by ChAoOz last June.

Ooooo..... Unisem reported a great set of earnings.

The turnaround story for 2020?

* The earnings recovery isn't too big of a surprise cos once the loss making asset is out of the books, Unisem should be churning in decent profits again....

Update of TG share buybacks....

user posted image

user posted image

Total shares buybacks from 9th Sep to 22 Feb 21 = 200,157,700
Sum paid for these shares = RM1,412,588,732.98

Average price = 7.057379
Closing price for 25 Feb 2021 = 5.30

Current market value for these share buybacks = rm1,060,835,810.00

Based on 5.30, these shares bought back is sitting on losses of RM351,752,922.98

currently the share buybacks has 'lost' a mere 351 million in shareholder funds......

I seriously wonder if any TG shareholders recognise what a shitty execution of buybacks.

Imagine, the company is the banker, right. They had 1.4 billion in chips... yet... they are currently losing 351 million.

If buy back a full 10% as per their mandate, can you wonder how much the potential losses based on current performance?

And here's another thing.... so the boss, he might be good in business but good in business doesn't mean he will be good in the share market.

Take poor Tropicana...

user posted image

TG boss spend 98.52 million of Tropicana's cash on buying TG shares. At 5.30, these shares are worth only 75 million. A loss of 22.624 million!

puke.gif

Ah .... how about the boss?

user posted image

Boss spend a total of 109.65 million whacking up TG shares.

AHem... based on a share price of 5.30, the shares he bought is only worth 95.744 million.

ahem... a loss of 13.907 million.

puke.gif puke.gif

There...... how?

The ASP WILL NOT hold....... that's a certainty. whistling.gif

and when ASP adjust lowers ....

the profits will start to fall ....

and dividends will fall ....

and so will the stock price....

the saving grace is ... the ASP manages to hold firm for more months than expected......

weigh the pro vs the con ..... it's not a good bet at all.

Anyway, I ran a stimulation idea on buying Top Glove based on dividends.

Yup. I sure did. tongue.gif

What to do... batu api ma.... laugh.gif devil.gif

Anyway, let's be fair.... let's use that old simulation since DEC 2020 and I shall bookmark this thread and see what happens 2 years from now....
This way, no matter what, we can learn.....

Here .... post #41207

I post the main part here again...................

1. Buying a stock just b4 it goes ex dividend.

Best one to TEST it out is Top Glove.

Point is, you need to test such ideas/insinuations out. Recently Maybank, went ex-dividend. Look at Maybank now... it's been sliding since then. So you would have gotten the dividend but since the market readjusts the price for the dividend, the stock automatically trades lower.

so test it out. Mark 6.70 as your buying price. Come back one month later. See the result.

blah...blah....blah....

anyway something like this .... just a rough idea.... run simulations...

or maybe you have DUMBASS MAKE MONEY STOCK going to make its QR report in 2 weeks time. Run simulations. Assume you want to dive in early. And then compare it versus with the do nothing option. Examine the results....

And also ... you can test out LOUSY IDEAS ... just don't care and test it out.... icon_rolleyes.gif

>>>>>>>>

So the buy point 6.70 on Dec 2020.

Dividend collected so far 16..50

Price today 5.30.

Edit.

Put in another simulation. Buy TG at 5.30 for dividends....

Well... as I clearly remembered....

1. The dividend yield for TG only was mooted around Dec.

2. The previous dividend for TG was only 8.5 sen. Which was half of the 16.5 sen they paid in Dec.

3. That 6.70 simulation was done Live in Dec. ie posting was made without knowing what will happen next. Plus there were postings made insinuating that one should buy TG for dividends then. Yup.. From buying for the growth, it became dividend play.

4. Ok to be even more fair... Let's put a tracker... Buy TG at 5.30 for future dividends.
