Anyone watched this movie yet? I just watch it and I think it's a brilliant movie. This story is based on a true story about Chris Gardner, potrayed by Will Smith. Together with his son, Christopher, they went through a lot of struggles, pain and despair, all in the name of happiness. You can't help but emphatize with this man in his journey to pursue his dream.

Very nice movie. Recommended thumbup.gif

It was only an OK movie for me.
A mediocre story line with some touching moments especially the public toilet night, the machine finally work after replace the parts scene and when they being chased out. Will smith play well with his doubtful face on the train while his kid sleeping and the when he got promoted. The cube twisting and the machine lost and found was quite an cliche to me.

Anyway it doesn't take only an super great movies for me to enjoy it. I still like it overall

I have watched it.. It's something like Beautiful Life but this is a true story. I cried in the end when something that hold me so long in the beginning was found in the end.. the meaning of True HappYness..

if u dont watch it, u will miss this Centurion Movie in the future.

Why is "happiness" spelled wrong in the title?

It was the misspelled name of the son's daycare. Will Smith's character refers to it several times during the movie, one of which was right before he and his son share their nicknames and the meanings of those nicknames. Also, the name is painted on the front window of the daycare and can be clearly seen at times.

Just some extra information abt the movie.

Are there any differences between the movie story and the real story?
Here's a few:

The Dean Witter internship wasn't unsalaried, but had a $1,000/mo. stipend.

The internship lasted 10 months, not 6.

Chris Jr. was 18 months old, not preschool aged, when his mother left him with his father.

They were not rejected from a women's shelter; Glide Memorial, where they stayed in the movie and in real life, was a single mothers' shelter at the time.

He did not have to work short hours; in fact he started early and stayed late.

He was a bone scanner salesman, but not self-invested; he quit the job before taking the internship.

Who is the "Rich" in his later firm Gardner Rich?
Gardner added it himself, in honor of succesful broker Marc Rich, who was not involved in Gardner's company.

just watched the movie i bought from amazon. did anyone at imdb ever mentioned that this movie is a rip-off from an old italian movie, Ladri Di Biciclette (1947)?? ive noticed a lot of similarities; father and son, mother working at laundry shop, the father's important stuff for his job, the restaurant scene, pawn shop scene.. id say this movie is more like a remake. fine shit though.

The Chris Gardner story exaggerated.
Works for me though. Some really nice scenes and motivational quotes from the movie. Love the basketball court, subway and the queuing up scenes.

it is not about touching in my view. It is bout Brave to pursuit ur dream job. Yet is touching to see how Wills went thru the test.

Remember tos words Wills spoke out while playing basketball wif his son.
Tos are the tag lines is important to change's one's life forever or never.

Very well-directed movie. It shows us so many blocks & tough times to being a great man. Should be a school educational material.. I wonder how many ppl can be so tough like him in these century now.

I was hoping he won best male actor wif this movie. It shows a different acting from Wills. Absolutely great motivation movie for everyone.

how can a movie in which u know the ending be depressing?
great performance from smith

the problem with academy is that they like intensity. they dont appreciate good acting IMO. which explains why Pete O Toole will never win tongue.gif

One of the best movie ever! Will Smith should share an Oscar with Forrest Whitaker on this one.

Usually I hate sad crying sobbing stories. This why I don't like to watch tv3, they used people tears and sadness as their marketing. whenever there's a sad show I will turn the channel or get away from the tv. I stumbled upon this movie coz I was bored and think eh wat the heck since people gave rave reviews about this movie. Man it was a good thing I watched it. I nearly cried cry.gif . Man everything was near perfect the acting, screenplay, editing, mood, soundtrack even the noise on the film. Best movie adaptation! Fuyyoh highly recommended thumbup.gif and this comes from a man who hates sad movies in general.

Just watched this movie from HBO. This movie is a must watch for everyone! rclxms.gif

Sad but very inspirational. For the part where they sleep in the "cave" or public toilet, I am near tears. And when I saw that the floor is only covered by tissue paper, and someone is knocking the door. I couldn't stop my tears. Almost want to scream "Go away! Why can't you guys just let them alone?!". cry.gif

This movie makes me think that we should always try our best to help poor family and especially kids. They are ljust ike everyone of us deserve a life filled with happyness.
